26 | Savinho - 2025/26

Would you rather play against Doku or Semenyo?

I think the games left are too important to take any risks with Savinho, Marmoush, Reijnders, etc. unless necessary. Interesting to see how many will be here next season, especially if Pep leaves.
That’s what I was saying but from an opposition perspective

He beat his man twice in the first half and put in a decent cross on both occasions
Then he lost the ball and the bloke behind me shouted "Fuck off you're shit!"

A bit like this thread

Heard at least two around me last night giving him dog’s abuse. Not the usual type of constructive criticism you usually hear either…

Not sure how that can be productive at the match but each to their own.

You maybe right, he was better last night but not anywhere near 'great' as some have said.
I think the general vibe is that he played well, rather than great.

Personally I quite liked that he was selective in when to try and take on the defender, because Palaces game was all about trying to hit us on the counter quickly. He was up against two very physical players in Mitchell and Canvot inside him, so I doubt he would have got much joy in repeatedly running at them with very little space to work with.

When there was a bit more space he could have got an assist for a good chance for Marmoush and he scored.

Without that goal the general take on his all round performance would be very different in this thread

Because some are lazy or anything but generous. The general take on Rodri was horrendously bad even after we won the title in 2021, and still is at times when he is compared on here to older legends. When you decide someone is wank, you don't change your opinion too easily or too strongly.

That's why many have failed to notice how good Doku has become and needed extraordinary performances to move from their preconceptions.

Anyway, Savinho had a decent game. Arguing with that is silly. The problem is he isn't consistent. He might put in a performance like Dortmund at home or Newcastle away or disappear like he did at the Bernabeu in March or against much weaker teams. Whether time can solve that problem is anyone's guess.
