7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

I think both him and Semenyo look way better when paired with Haaland or each other in a striker partnership.

Neither can play wide that well.

Let Cherki go to the wing like Doku does but with freedom to go inside.

We spent lots of money on Marmoush and Semenyo, let's use a system that maximimizes their output and favors most of the team

Brilliantly taken goal, that first touch makes it. Also all credit to him for being the only one alert to a short corner at the very end, sprinted over to stop it being taken when we cleary wasn't ready and took a yellow for it. Could be a vital action that.

Yeah I wondered why he took a yellow.. didn't see what was happening.

Major props to him for that and a clean sheet can make a major difference. Looks really good for him to show Pep he's got situational awareness and will run and do dirty work for Pep if needed.

I dont rate him but really want to. First touch too suspect for a team that builds up the way we do..

35m be good business given his contract.

There are some positions that no one will rate long term since they are never going to be as good as the original player playing there..

Backup to Aguero, Backup to KDB, Backup to Ederson, Backup to Haaland etc.

Omar is a 1st rate striker if you look at the league and he's willing to sit for Erling and join in when necessary. No one's heard him moan and groan about playtime unlike others. And he always puts a shift in.. has demonstrated situational awareness and an ability to do dirty work if needed.

Quite honestly if you look at the market every other option is a downgrade at Striker from Haaland and they'll all want playtime. Just like Julian did.. who was hated while he was here for his first touch of a trampoline.

11 G/A this season from 15 starts.

Shame it's not really worked out overall. There's a player in there, just don't think he's got the X factor that Pep wants.

Works his socks off every time he plays. Really enjoy watching him, his movement is fantastic and so is his finishing.

Just wish he could play on the wing (or Pep would give him a chance to!) so he’d get more minutes.

The issue is whoever we bring in is on a hiding to nothing with Haaland being first choice. Mamoush does provide us good cover and has chipped in during both our cup runs but probably not consistent enough to really nail down a starting place.

He's not a winger or lone striker.

He can be more than just a backup to Haaland, they can play together.
The question is would Pep actually do that? We have talented backup strikers fail to really nail a place alongside our main one.

The question we should be asking ourselves about Omar is:

1. Is he better than Bony? Obviously yes
2. Is he better than Balotelli? Obviously yes
3. Is he better than Jesus? Obviously yes
4. Is he better than Negredo? Probably yes.
5. Is he better than Dzeko? Probably yes but close.
6. Is he better than Julian? Probably no but close.
7. Is he better than Tevez? No, not in a million years.

So if he's between Dzeko and Julian levels.. maybe just maybe, he's better than we think or like to give him credit for just like a lot of our players over the years!

Put a real shift in today in the first half.

The second half we were almost more vulnerable defensively without him pressing.

I'm convinced there's a spot here on this team.. if Pep can somehow create it and he fancies it.

What has he done for you to declare him better than Jesus and Dzeko? Jesus had over 130 goal contributions for us and Dzeko over 100.

Not a chance he’s better than Dzeko mate.
