Angela Rayner

If my understanding is correct she received legal advice that she was likely exempt but advised to consult a tax expert which she then chose not to do. That for me raises a question about good judgment. Her choice to ignore expert advice in an area she knew little about which then forced her to resign and embarrassed her party and government is hardly a ringing endorsement for any bid to be party leader. I grew up on a council estate and know plenty who worked hard and did well for themselves but would expect more than that as a qualification to run the country. No doubt she is passionate about helping those who grew up in similar circumstances to herself but I don’t think she would be better than Starmer. Both have shown poor judgement and see this as a pointless change.

Nothing to get over.
She paid interest of £3,170 on the tax she owed - therefore she didn't pay the tax at the time that she surely knew she would have to pay.
The only way she could get around a fine was being considered thick by HMRC and let off with just paying the interest.
Either way she's a hypocrite.

She was found guilty of not paying tax. That's why she paid the interest if £3,170.
For whatever reason HMRC decided not to to fine her for avoidance.
My accountant is at a total loss as to why she didn't get a fine,.
Only a tax payer being as "As thick as pig shit" is the only time he's seen HMRC be so lenient.
Oh and she did IGNORE the advice of two tax specialists who said she DID owe it.
So. she knowingly didn't pay the tax.
Oh and she did break the ministerial code no matter how you shuffle it.

She paid interest on the amount owing.
It's irrelevant as to whether she was fined by HMRC or not.
She did what she decrys orhers for - i.e. Not paying tax.
So she is a hypocrite
She thus has zero chance of winning an General Election as leader of the Labour Party.

The question wasn’t did she not pay tax, but whether she deliberately didn’t pay tax. Subtle difference
 
The Daily Mail today calls Rayner, 'Angry Ginge.' Andrew Pierce tells his readers that 'Labour Insiders' told him 'You don't want her making decisions at 3am', and goes on to speak of her love of a night out.
There's another asking for proof from HMRC.

This is the reality about what a working-class, single-mum has to face from a media desperate to protect the elites. It is, for me, a shameful display of 'Britishness' and our fake notions of fair-play.
