I'm not in the mood to say much. Maybe later. I'm tired. Exhausted actually...
Chelsea's lineup reflected fear. Their manager decided to somehow play more to their strengths after conceding. Too little too late. They do have qualities. And they were definitely much much, I mean MUCH fresher. Yet I will remenber them for their desperate as well as silly attempts to buy a fucking penalty on every possible occasion. Fucking pathetic - and they deserved nothing...
As for as: Performance was defined by our energy levels. Hardly a surprise, of course, not to mention, there's a must win game ahead at Bournmouth in 3 fucking days...
Seriously tired men out there at Wembley. All of them, with the exception of the GK plus one, maybe two players. Maybe. Which reminds me, Antoine, in particular, is dead on his feet for like weeks now. Plus he's not used to playing in that frequency, nevermind the pressure of results. And guess what: Guardiola will choose to sacrifice Omar (who is definitely fresher) and keep Antoine, till the very end. Incredible! The reasons are purely tactical, Antoine can seem to appear more versatile, providing flexibility as well as unpredictability, in various areas upfront. Guardiola "invested" in the connections he can build with his teammates, and his decision was justified, once again. Guardiola definitely trusts his man, and his player did respond, the way he did, winning us the game. As usual, Pep knows better -even when he doesn't...
As I said numerous times, with the decisions (and non decisions) made in the summer, our problems in the vital area of midfield would not be fixed -and they weren't. A player who was supposed to help the team from day 1, was not trusted to start, once again. I don't blame him, it's not his fault. That's ... "planning" though. Others, who could -and should- have been here, were considered surplus apparently. That's also ... "planning". You end up playing with Rodrigo (this Rodrigo, not the one 2 years ago) and Bernardo, which means: a) You cannot be as competitive as you would wish, and b) you are bound to make concessions in your game (which is equally important). Am I clear or do I have to spell it out? Not to mention, how much we missed a player like Mateo in that area, I will not be able to find the right words to express myself. But that also was well known from the beginning, wasn't it?
Like Pep, I firmly believe Bernardo has still a role to play in this team, without being the main man though. He is intelligent, he understands that. Since he wants to keep playing regularly, he knows it cannot happen any more for City, at the environment of the PL. So he decides to leave. For a man like him, our captain at present, the interests of the team are above him, above any individual. An absolute legend for this club. We will always remember this day, him and John, close friends, wonderful human beings, fantastic servants, lifting the FA Cup trophy in the sky of London. Thank you for everything boys, good luck in your life after City...
The capital of England was our home tonight. A beautiful day for City, the Women's team crowned Champions (after so long), the Men winning the FA Cup. 100% deserved both. Congratulations to our girls and our boys, well done. Enjoy your evening, get back home safe!
