45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Some important moments but i don't think he had a great game today, unusually shaky on the ball and whilst there was definitely no real shout of a penalty and he got everything just aboit right, some of the risk taking in the challenges wasn't great.

Bit better positional sense and less reactive defending and those scenarios where he could find himself in trouble are dealt with before they ever get to that stage. That is what the true elite defenders do. Still absolutely essential to our defence but plenty to improve on. Zero doubts he will improve on them and become even more of a beast.

Currently topping our poll at 42%.
I thought he was superb.
That doesn't surprise me because people will favourably remember last ditch interventions, especially when there is no standout in a game. As i said, he got those challenges right today and they were important but what I'm saying is, as he learns and develops better game sense he won't be in a position to have to make those plays because he'll have read it and snuffed it out before hand. Might not be as memorable, but he'll be a much better defender for it.

His pace us a phenomenal asset but the less he has to use it, the better. Currently reminds me of 1st year walker who would completely rely on his pace to get him out of trouble, it took him a few years to develop the positional sense to not need to rely on being the quickest player on the pitch too. Khusanov will get there.

Gooners are now suggesting that he is refereed differently because he is the strongest player on the pitch.

Great post. For the FOCs I want him to be more like Baresi and less like Des Walker. Both effective defenders the the former had far more football intelligence and seemed unflappable.

Massive kudos for scouting and signing him.

I wonder does the lad realise how good he is and we wonder just how good he might become in the next few years. For such a tough and physical player I couldn't stop smiling at the little shy kid expression on his face yesterday as he showed off the cup to the fans. There is just something so likeable and appealing about this young man.

Its crazy the headloss that happened from fans on Khusanovs challenges, not just Chelsea.

Khusanov doesnt need to look at the ball first to challenge for it lol

I love it because it reminds me of how much people used to lose their heads over Fernandinho.

You need players who put the fear of god into the opposition and remind them it's a contact sport, we've been sorely lacking it recently.

These four fit and in form would be a fearsome backline. Nothing in the league currently is comparable.

Khusanov-Dias-Guehi-Guardiol

With Rodri in front of them as well!
