Hopefully this is the beginning of a positive turning point after a decade or more of increasing division, toxicity and extremists stirring the shit.
Including Jaffa Cakes?
At its core Burnham's pitch is restoring public control of essential services, the renationalization of energy, water etc a la our deregulated Bee Network. It is a brave assault on the asset class and their Reform creatures but those policies will be portrayed by them as the big unions' hard left agenda and will also likely be opposed by the majority of party's MPs. Consequently I think Starmer's more moderate Blairite approach is still the best chance of defeating Farage.I think he’s plainly more decisive.
And unquestionably a better communicator.
Plus he will be more recalcitrant towards Trump.
So palpable three areas of improvement.
I think the majority are so pissed off by now that they accept something radical has to happen. This century has been wank for over two thirds of people in the developed world, and definitely worse for social cohesion, as well.At its core Burnham's pitch is restoring public control of essential services, the renationalization of energy, water etc a la our deregulated Bee Network. It would actually be a national tragedy. More instability. Last thing we fucking need.I don’t think it will happen, because Burnham seems very popular, and I wouldn’t want the seat to go to Reform or the Tories, but it would be hilariously ironic if Labour lost the seat.
Never trust a cat lover or their cat, evil.Richard Whittington.
Yeah he's killing it in the polls. At its core Burnham's pitch is restoring public control of essential services, the renationalization of energy, water etc a la our deregulated Bee Network. and couldn't have happened if a leadership challenge hadn't been mounted by Burnham - an extremely risky strategy that if it backfires would boost Reform as well as giving them another MP and probably the GM Mayoralty. It would actually be a national tragedy. More instability. Last thing we fucking need.
it's not good now but in 3 years time things might have changed a lotYeah he's killing it in the polls.
Starmer’s race is run. He has insufficient authority.and couldn't have happened if a leadership challenge hadn't been mounted by Burnham - an extremely risky strategy that if it backfires would boost Reform as well as giving them another MP and probably the GM Mayoralty.
If Burnham is elected Starmer will probably step aside, if not he'll almost certainly try to see it through to the end of his term. A poor reflection on the 400+ Labour MPs we've got admittedly.Starmer’s race is run. He has insufficient authority.
What is the situation regarding the Mayor gig?and couldn't have happened if a leadership challenge hadn't been mounted by Burnham - an extremely risky strategy that if it backfires would boost Reform as well as giving them another MP and probably the GM Mayoralty.

I'm not sure fingers crossed things may have changed is the same as thinking he is the best chance of defeating Farage.and couldn't have happened if a leadership challenge hadn't been mounted by Burnham - an extremely risky strategy that if it backfires would boost Reform as well as giving them another MP and probably the GM Mayoralty.

and now is definitely not a good time to be having it for the Labour Party .... things can only get better...I'm not sure fingers crossed things may have changed is the same as thinking he is the best chance of defeating Farage.
Although its mad to be relying on a town in wigan Burnham not winning will be a very bad thing for Labour, Manchester and the rest of the country. I don't think there has ever been a more important by election ever held in this country.
As I said, I don’t want it to happen. It would actually be a national tragedy. More instability. Last thing we fucking need.
Too late its happeningand now is definitely not a good time to be having it for the Labour Party .... things can only get better...
Burnham has to resign as GM Mayor to stand in Makerfield and a contest for a new one will be triggered. What is the situation regarding the Mayor gig?
I was under the impression he can continue being Mayor if he loses the by election, which if correct is a load of bollox anyway!
Don’t think that’s correct.Burnham has to resign as GM Mayor to stand in Makerfield and a contest for a new one will be triggered.
exactly, fingers crossed he pulls it off.Too late its happening
Happy to be corrected, if he can lose in Makerfield and remain GM Mayor that is a definite plus as it reduces the possible damage.Don’t think that’s correct.
