AFC Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We were in it longer than I thought the way the season and in particular the year started. Arsenal have not been great, but just about better than us. Had help, had luck, had us keep blowing it when we would have caught up. Congratulations Corners FC.

Bright stuff ahead with some of these players. Shame how it finishes, but at least lets us focus the last game on just the goodbyes.

It was always going to be tough so hardly unexpected - going to have to turn off Sky for 3 months now because I cannot stand Arsenal and the love fest we are in for - they are cheating twats and are led by the most unlikeable group of people you could ever have,

2 trophies and finishing second are better than most thought and there are many positives with players bedding in for next year and beyond.

For us we need to really continue the build next year - we need to be ruthless - new centre midfielders are essential. We must not go into next year with Kovacic replacing Bernie and there has to be serious questions on Phil, Savinho & Marmoush - they have moaned about lack of game time but what I saw tonight was bad. Do they need a new voice under a new system or do we need to move on. Nico G is another who one minute is trusted then is thrown into oblivion. Even Rodri looked half the player we know he is - could be injuries, could be him being unhappy I don't know.

We also need to find a proper fullback - Nico and Nunes have done way above expectation but when push comes to shove in odd games we lacked physicality and ability to overlap and provide consistent crosses.

Hopefully Semenyo will be more consistent next year - tonight again he looked as though he couldn't trap a fart. Guehi reads the game so well but his passing was woeful at times tonight and I guess that all comes from not having athletic midfielders ahead of him. He looked stressed because the balance wasn't right. Maybe Enzo plays a system more suited to him. In fact the way football has evolved this last year it's all about pace, power and press and our defence couldn't cope with that. This year we have given away too many easy chances by being out of shape.

Anyway rant over - It's not been bad and there is a lot of hope for our young team but maybe just maybe it really is time for a new voice and Pep, being the genius he is, knows that more than numpty fans like me!

Onto next year Blues we will all be here...

away form just not good enough. arsenal have won 4 in a row after we beat them whilst we fuck up everton and bournemouth to name 2 out of brighton, newcastle, west ham etc

3 out of last 5 away were draws

We should be on the phone to Iraola tonight..

Fuck that he has proved nought only that with no pressure less games he can set a team up to play! Now if he had stayed next season while they are in Europe and finished top 6 get far in the cups then I’d say yeah he has done well but still he hasn’t managed a team that 2 draws and win isn’t good enough!

Their ain’t a city fan alive who thought “ we need savinho on the pitch” when we’re chasing the game, awful subs tonight

It was a really poor performance and let’s face it, there’s been plenty of them over the past 2 seasons.

I don’t want Pep to go but if he is, he probably won’t find a better time to do it. A cup double and a 2nd place means he can walk away as a resounding success overall and probably at peace with not leaving us after a dire year.

I honestly don’t think this team would win the league with him next season, not with these players. They’re not good enough for the the way he wants to play and with that in mind, I don’t think he can expect a better season than this for walking away.
Think there’s a bit of truth in that _ change might suit everyone and nothing lasts for ever, no matter how much we might want it to

Congrats on the win mate. You guys deserved it over the course of the season. I much prefer you guys winning that rags or dippers anyway.
Cheers.

You'll be back next season and let's look forward to the car crash that will be the Rags having to play more than 1 match a week - that'll be pure comedy.

Let’s be honest this was a transitional season and we still have two trophies in the bag.

Learnt a lot though haven’t we. Nunes is a better than average right back, is there a better one in the league. Khusanov is already a very good CB and can aspire to be one of the greats, I genuinely believe his ceiling is so high. Doku is twice the player he was last season and can get better. NOR is the best young player around and can only get better. Guehi became a much needed calming influence at the back despite his error at neverton. Gvardiol will come back stronger. We have the second best defence in the league without resorting to cheating, diving, feigning injury etc. Cherki in his first season was at times outstanding but needs to be more consistent.

On the downside Rodri needs to not play many minutes at the World Cup otherwise he will be fucked for next season. Jury out on Tijani, RAN and Marmoush, whilst Semenyo needs to be more consistent to be considered a good player.

I think we have seen the last of Lewis, Kova, Savio as well as Bernardo, Stones and possibly Ake

All in all a good season, we go again next year and look to win more trophies. We can still have a party on Sunday.

It wasn’t pathetic. They were all out of gas. Something we can improve on definitely next year, along with some other things
Out of gas or not - it wasn't good.

Playing to take the league to the final day you expect more. It doesnt fall on tonight though for me... Stupid points dropped at west ham and at home to Forest has cost us the league.
