Still plays like an academy kid
I've largely given up with him but it will be interesting to see how he gets on next season as I think those that have backed up will see what he's really made of under a new manager

so much fluff written about him after a decent 20 min cameo last week, sadly was way off it again tonight.

Two really poor years rewarded with a new contract. The idea of giving someone a new deal who's been so completely ineffective for such a long spell doesn't make sense.
Hope he comes back better next season but I'm worried we've seen the best of him already.

Seemed to play well when playing with top, top players like previous seasonsHad a good cameo, then a great game vs Palace. Then 0 minutes in the final and benched again tonight. Wasn't great, wasn't awful when he came on but what do we expect when there's no rhythm?

And who cares if he cant run a game like those two ? Although you’re being very kind to Bernardo on running games. Phils strengths are being close to the box, he is in and out of the team no consistency at all and not surprising.He lacks the football intelligence to play as a cm. Unbelievably talented but will never run a game like Bernardo or David silva.
Next season is up to him otherwise I think Maresca will see him leave. Sentiment only lasts so long.

That was as bad it gets, he was awful when he came on, offered nowt, caught in possession, turned his back on a challenge, constantly passing backwards, he's getting nowhere near the England squad, hope he gets a long rest over the summer and comes back the player we all know he can be.
Behave mate Bernardo has been excellent this year.our new Bernardo. Looking back first before doing anything. Even during counters he is looking to pass it back

my being befuddled made me wondering this entire season what caused him to fall from grace.
When he’s top gear he cruises outside the box like knife on butter. The last season and this season however his throttle is capped.
Maybe our shift to move into possession on the flanks with Doku and whoever's on the right (Semenyo usually) does not fit Foden because he gets less of the ball leaving to doing passes. Foden is primarily a central midfielder with an inverted winger. And Doku, Sylvinho, Semenyo are already wide wingers who slice deep from the sides or crosses into the box for Marmoush, Haaland.
Bernado’s also taking the heavy work being industrial central, left and right.
Those coverage altogether leaves small space for Foden, but not for Cherki who’s able to maneuver in tight spaces like a Tevez.
A diamond of Haaland, Doku, Semenyo/Sylvinho and Bernado leaves out Foden. When Bernado goes central then Marmoush or Cherki are better first options.
Since next season is a season without Bernado, then maybe Foden will have the space that he used to and Rodri as the DM foil since Foden, unlike Bernado, is not as natural defending.
Maybe try out next season with Haaland up front, and then Doku—Foden<->Cherki—Semenyo, and Rodri as DM.
