AFC Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Dynasty my arse. One rule change and arsenal won't be challenging again without a change of playing style.

It's been a poor season. I don't just mean because we didn't win the league, two cups is not to be sniffed at, but in terms of enjoyment and quality, it's been a shite league this season. And unfortunately arsenal didn't need to be legendary or even approaching it, to get to the head of the queue.

We mused earlier on over whether the quality of the premier league was getting better with teams getting closer to each other, or worse because there were no clear top teams chasing records. For me, it's the latter quite clearly. Our football has been worse, but watching team after team wrestle at corners, the inconsistencies on officiating at an all time high, it's not been very appealing stuff to watch, has it? The product has been damaged by this season, maybe that'll finally make the premier league sit up and take notice. Arsenal win it, but at what cost?

Rodders needs a rest but won’t get one this summer sadly. We may have seen the best of him and given then contract situation it might be time to get some cash for him. Saddens me to say

Hard to judge off these last two. He hadn't had proper training session before FA Cup final. Classic Pep to throw in the guys he trusted. He was doing fine before the Arsenal injury.

Think playing for Spain will be OK for him. Needs more matches and the schedule isn't overwhelming at WC. Still a month off even if they make the final.

Wish we was refereed like Arsenal and get those extra five mins when needed
tbh the bbc got an article right now with key moments

martinellis equalizer
their winner at newcastle
guehi balls up at everton

just a few moments that they got

overall i think their defensive ability to see off opponents inntight games go them more points than we did

we dropped 6 points in a week in january from dodgy draws. overall we still had the edge attacking wide but not quite enough this year

be interesting to see if a new manager can get more out of the space for Haaland and possibly change his game

Why ? Give me some reasons why he would keep our club in the elite top six in europe , he f*cking manages Bournemouth for f*cks sake.
Yeah - Erling would just hate playing in a team that's coached to break at pace, wouldn't he?

I lost count of the times that we could have broken - then stopped, allowing them to regroup. Getting on for 2 years of that, now.

Too much moaning. A couple midfielders and the team will be solid. Too much age in the middle of the park. Rodri, Kovacic, and Bernardo? Fucking hell.

That wasn't the sole reason

Come on, mate, you know that that in fact had nothing whatsoever to do with it. People are making that guy messing around with a bit of banter into some sort of voodoo doll.
We were not the best team in the land, and that's clear. Arsenal were more consistent, and got the job done, by hook or by crook. They were the “best” team, because the top of the table does not lie. Ever. Not over 38 matches. I'm not going to congratulate them on the way they did it, and I hope to God the referees get together and send out a clear message that the behaviour of attacking players on keepers (looking at you Saliba, looking at you, Gabriel, but not only), and defending players on strikers (Haaland was involved in a combination of bear hugs and Mick McManus wrestling matches on every single corner at every single ground for much of the season, you could see he was completely cheesed off with it by the end) will not be tolerated. Yellow card in the first instance, followed by red for recidivists. Shower offending players with them on the first matchday, second if necessary — there'll be outrage, there'll be riots in the streets, maybe, but it will stop it dead in its tracks.
It's not anti this or that club. It's anti-football.

Still waiting for a reason why he has the quality to manage MCFC , we are now in the same bracket as Bayern , PSG ,Real , Barca etc.,would he get a job at any of those clubs ? would he f*ck.

We looked mentally and physically fucked from the first whistle. Could tell from the off the way it was going to go.

Not sure if it can be put down to the news around Pep, the ridiculous football schedule that was 'allowed' to form for us at the season end, or a bit of both.

Rodri in particular looked absolutely dead, can't recall ever seeing him look so off it.

So many stray passes, so many poor decisions, so many glum faces. Sad really.

Can't win everything I guess. Onward and upward.

But pacey, energetic football is unsustainable when you play in the Champions League and go deep in both cups. That was Bournemouth's 39th game this season, compared to City's 59th.
I hate to give credit to Klopp, but Liverpool did a pretty good job of it when he was there.

And it was there for us tonight -- and plenty of other times this season. There's an argument that our desire for control has made us too unadventurous. How many of those games where we dropped points and shouldn't have were us slowing things down and not attacking until a defense with 11 behind the ball was set and in place? Some of that is energy, sure, but it is also a choice. And one that it seems like our default has gotten too passive. Too unadventurous.
