Pep to leave at the end of the season

If Maresca is the club's choice, i'd bring him in again as assistant and let him take over next season.
It'll give him a chance to work with the players, let them get to know each other and maybe implement some of his own ideas so we hit the ground running when Pep eventually does leave.
I dunno, it's been a whirlwind of emotions this week, so whatever is decided won't surprise me now.

That's the obvious solution if he definitely stays one more year. The problem is if he does every single game and sports show will never shut up about it from day one. Lose one game it will be "Is Peps last season going to end in failure?" The pressure will be immense on the team snd him.

Very strange.

What does Pep have to speak to Khaldoon about that he hasn’t already spoken to him about?

I think it’s smoke amd mirrors by Pep. Another deflection tactic.

He knows he’s leaving, but doesn’t want to announce it yet, certainly not to the press, hence the I still need to speak to Khaldoon reply.
Becoming a circus now

  • "Listen, I have one more year of contract. I will not tell you [a decision] here because I have to talk with my chairman, with my players, with my staff because when we play for the FA Cup, qualification for the Champions League, the Premier League it's just one thing in my mind and focus: Try to bring the team to the highest point. And it's what we have done..."
  • "Listen, with the club always I've talked - not now, since three or four seasons ago when there was one year [contract] left - and the first thing you have to understand is I should talk with my chairman [Khaldoon Al Mubarak] first, right? After that, we'll decide if I have one more year, we'll talk everything, and we will decide..."
  • "LET ME TALK WITH MY CHAIRMAN! I know they [the fans] love me so much, I love you more! I know that! It's the best place to be, I love this place. I adore

Maybe he’s changed his mind and needs to speak to Khaldoon to ask him to tear up his resignation letter and put the successor plans on hold
Just an idea

Is it?

What if just being naive here, pep has not decided? The media have been hounding him for months about when is he going to leave!

So it must have leaked somewhere to get to that parasite in the mail. What if like before he decided to leave but once again changed his mind? He looks torn to me.

The media again have complicity hounded this man. His indecision has left a vacuum for the gutter scum to flourish.

Hate the cunts more than any team.

Most likely legalities. Someone in the club has leaked this before it was watertight enough for pep and the club to announce it.

Be hilarious if we just end the Villa game as normal and then he just walks in the summer to no fanfare.

If true, it can only be somebody close to the top people at City, and I doubt any of them would leak it. There’s no way it would have been common knowledge before the Bournemouth game, which looks like it impacted the team, and helped Arsenal. Then again I could be totally wrong?

The team needs a new midfield. Can’t conduct with a broken baton.

Step by step.

Prob bought 3/4 ok players. Some have stepped up this season.

Khaldoon won’t be happy. Hugo has a big job getting the next in and outs spot on.

Been really poorly handled this. Just got to get on top of it now and let us know officially. At least give us an opportunity to process it and prepare for a goodbye. Doesn't currently feel like it's being handled by a club who are prepared for this.

I personally think it’s time for some fresh ideas. Pep Guardiola is the greatest manager of all time in my opinion, but all good things eventually come to an end. I’d like to see us evolve into a slightly different style of football now.

For me, Luis Enrique would be an exciting option, but unlikely he’d leave PSG rn, so I’d personally give the job to Kompany. What he’s shown at Bayern proves he’s got real tactical intelligence, and he looks like one of the next generation of top managers capable of building fluid, attacking teams. The fact he’s also a club legend just makes it feel right.
I agree but Enrique won't be available until 2027 and Kompany until 2029 so if Pep really leaves now Maresca is the best manager available right now.
