AFC Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Need to be called out?

Who do you think you are to assume your opinion on all things is correct?

You are demonstrating a personality disorder, in my opinion.

Long time City fans are still naturally pessimistic, it’s a defence mechanism & has also become a good luck mindset. Assume we’ll win the hard games and mess up the easy ones.

Maybe try leaving people to their own thoughts and opinions?
There is a difference between being naturally pessimistic and just downright unnecessarily negative though

I have no problem calling out the latter if I see it. If you disagree thats fine

The team looked absolutely knackered last night. Legs were still Wembley sapped against a team whose game is all about energy, running, pressing and high intensity play who haven’t lost in the second half of the season… was going to be hard when the game was scheduled, never mind after a Cup final.

Just one page and all the moaning cunts know better than Pep.

Congrats the english red cartel from england, finally pipped the City team in fucking rebuilding and transition! just.

Think we simply ran out of gas last night.

Obviously buzzing with the point, confirming European football for the first time in our clubs history. I think we really did deserve the win, though. We should’ve gone 2-0 up about 3 separate times in the second half, but the goal that you probably deserved on the balance of play did eventually come.

I was confident of the win for large parts of the game, so it’s a bit of a shame we couldn’t have pushed Liverpool for 5th (I personally think Brentford are going to beat them, so it was definitely on). I think we deserve Champions League, personally, but c'est la vie.

The title wasn’t lost today for you; not to be smarmy, but we are a pretty good team on our day and we’re now unbeaten in 17. It was games like Everton and Spurs that have done you in for the title. If you’d beaten any of those teams from advantageous positions, I stand by my prediction that Arsenal would have bottled it in the end. I don’t even think you played badly at all, tbh, I thought it was a good game against an elite team that was probably running on fumes. There’s really no shame in that.

I’m just a tinpot fan of a tinpot club at the end of the day, but I think you should all take this moment to reflect on what a phenomenal decade you’ve all had. As a neutral, Pep has been a joy to watch (the oddball that he is). Champions League, 6 PL titles, a treble, 4 in a row. How many of you would have thought that would happen 15 years ago?! It doesn’t really get any better than that. I would be very, very surprised if you don’t win another title or CL in the next couple of years.
I said last night Bournemouth aare a good little team, quick, mobile .
Good luck in Europe

But pacey, energetic football is unsustainable when you play in the Champions League and go deep in both cups. That was Bournemouth's 39th game this season, compared to City's 59th.
Arsenal seem to rely on energy and pace rather than skill and will play 63 competitive games this season; 61 so far compared to City's 59. The main problem we had was having to reschedule three PL games due to Wembley visits while Arsenal only had to reschedule one. And one of those games was v Palace and their European run made it difficult to rearrange.

Yup. Our record in the league since January 1st is:

P19 W10 D8 L1 (38 points)

Need to turn a few of those draws into wins but we're definitely on the right track.
38 points from those 19 games is marginally worse than 40 points from the first 18 games so doesn't represent an improvement in PL form. Winning two cups was great but three of our opponents in the FA Cup were non-PL teams.
I think we'll improve next season but I remain concerned that too many of our recent signings are well below the standard of players we've lost.

No nor Erling clean through, liner flags instantly. When did the rules change?
Liner flags instantly if he's absolutely sure it's offside and the striker chasing the ball is the only attacker who can reach it.
Though it often doesn't seem like this when watching as a fan.

Didn't watch the game as I was engaged till 2230 in a meeting.
My 13yr old went and said "Dad just to many performances like this over the season"

Totally agree.

The thing is, if you go back, some of those ones we lost were also characterised as not up to the standard of the previous generation. Especially in 2016-17, when things were being set up. Not Kev, not him. He was clearly huge right from the start, and everybody saw it. But there were those who were not convinced by Gundo, and said it on here. As for Rodri, he got dog's abuse from some on here in his first season. John Stones was seen as being talented but unreliable in his first season.
Some players can develop. Some, I believe, can't. I could name names in both camps, but I won't. It's pointless. But I'm certain that this team is still being set up.
I'll call it. We missed it this time, but I think we'll be strong candidates for the title next season. Along with a couple of others.
