I really don't think it does. Think it is all done and now looks like it has been for some time. It is just about retaining whatever control is left of how it is done now, with Pep playing his part in that.It now sounds like there are reasons to be hopeful Pep might stay. It is a very difficult situation for fans, because BBC Football and the commercial media are definitively saying that he's leaving and that Maresca is coming in but Pep claims that he has a year on his contract and wants to discuss his future with Khaldoon. If Maresca is over-playing his hand, then that would explain how we got here.
I would be surprised if City would pass up another year with Pep, but if Pep is minded to leave after 1 more season, and City/Khaldoon really want Maresca as his long term replacement then City might want to call time on Pep. The press 'revelations' now look unreliable.
What he says is genuine, it is just the context that is at stake here.

Unfortunately, yesterday’s interview was probably just for show. The club likely wants to announce the news themselves — since it will generate huge traffic for the club’s own media channels — and doesn’t want Pep to give it away to the press for free.

from the video i think Pep stays, at some point he may have told Khaldoon that this season was his last and now he's at the point of no return the emotional attachment to the club has kicked in and he's realised it may not be the right decision

The problem with this post is this isn't an in the know snippet, its Tolmie hypothesising. Yet because he's known as the in the know guy it will be taken as gospel and it's unhelpful for the new guy coming in painting him as a snake already.
