Pep to leave at the end of the season

Might not be a year. It might be a similar situation as we had with Viana, he comes in for a transitional period as others have said and it eases the transition from one manager to another. Makes perfect sense to me.
At which point does the transition happen though? New Year's Day and we're flying in the league with a good shout at getting centurions again? Or it November and our annual shit run of form starts and we give it to Maresca rather than letting Pep manage us out of it like he's done every time?

It's a full year or nothing. Very most likely the latter unfortunately.

The media has been awash with reports that Pep is leaving. Oliver Holt, among others seems convinced but I'm reminded that the repetition of a rumour by 100, or 1000 or even 100 000 doesn't make it any truer. And last night, in his post match press conference, Pep refused to confirm or deny the story, instead pleading that he, and those at the club had been preoccupied with the end of the season and that he and Khaldoon would talk, presumably at the end of the season and presumably about the future. This suggests no decision has been made yet and, quite properly that Khaldoon is the man to talk with rather then Oliver Holt or any other reporter. It may be that Pep feels he has an important personal decision to communicate to the club, or it could mean that he is undecided or it could mean that there is other important club business to sort out. Micah Richards believed that Pep is leaving otherwise the club would have issued a rebuttal but this would not be the case if Pep and Khaldoon had never discussed the matter. We simply don't know but we'll find out in the next few days, probably early next week.

Thought Tolmie had thrown in the towel with regards to twitter?

Bit mad that tweet.
Yeah. Tolm has really stuck his neck out here (and I love Tolm).

There's an allegation that Mendes has been leaking about City since January to then apply pressure to City. Mendes is regarded as a master strategist and the most powerful agent around. I note that Maresca only signed with Mendes in October 25, and since then the rumour mill went into overdrive.

This whole situation is not sitting right with me. I love Pep and he's actually looked rejuvenated recently and said how much he loves the players. Sure he went through a bad patch and this may have coincided with the pressure from Mendes since January.

Maybe I just don't like the idea of Mendes getting his way.

We've won two cups, why would that not warrant a parade?

City's media stance has always been *you speculate as much as you like, we will tell you when WE are ready". It's worked for us so far, let's the media know who is in charge and there's nothing wrong with that.

Just because some people don't have the patience to wait a few days....some proper daft comments on here.
It does warrant a parade — it’s the event at Co-op Live with 20,000 tickets to sell, and the rushed opening of the North Stand, that suggest this is about something bigger than simply celebrating this season’s trophy haul.

If Maresca team have leaked this to the press/media. I cant see Khaldoon being happy about this.
Is this the sort of manager City wants how leaks things to the press/media. ?

City have been very good at keeping the press/media at arms length, they dont get much info from leaks at City. The last thing City need is a manager with lose lips.

I adore Pep and would love him to do a bacon face and change his mind about staying however some of the football we have played has been really turgid and slow over the last 2 seasons.
True we have won 2 cups this season and finished 2nd but we can be so much better.
If he stays I would be delighted, however I think he is done
Change his mind, as he said he is leaving.

While they may have already done so, the most likely scenario is he will want to take a long break unless he's already been offered another job at the absolute top. There will be no shortage of suitors already, that's for sure.
I very much doubt he has anything lined up after this.

Anyone with a shot at landing him would be leaking the shit out of it and we woukd have heard rumours by now.

But mostly, I honestly don't think he looks past the job at hand till it is fully done. From focus on the next game, to wherever he ends up next. After 10 years the respect and love with the club is such that I genuinely dont think he could even contemplate the next one till he has fully and formally parted with us.

Just been told by a gooner that Pep is leaving. I said " is he ? I havent seen that" he said yea Pep has said he is leaving.

I havent heard or seen Pep say he is leaving. Plenty of rumours but I haven't heard it from Pep or City
Well if pep or city said it then they wouldn't be rumours.

Italy, National Team Coach after taking a few months off.

Coincidentally, they’re all taking a few months off watching the World Cup!

Not rushed. It was supposed to open in January.

Pep always said he’d stay until the verdict. I guess that’s talking longer than even he expected.

This whole forum right now - and some of us are the 3rd dog!

Was chatting to a few Chelsea lads on Saturday on train about Enzo Maresca. They were saying when pressure hits he can get a bit negative, he`s not really Manchester City standard either.
We always hear the club goes for the very best, and if that’s the case then surely Luis Enrique has to be someone we at least speak to. For me he’s the standout option. Maresca thats a serious drop off
The standout candidate for next year and beyond is still Josep Guardiola Sala....
