Pep to leave at the end of the season

I'm the same. I can't for the life of me understand what Maresca has done in management that warrants him getting the City job. I can take Pep going, im gutted but he's given us 10 unbelievable years and deserves to go how/when he wants, but Maresca? Nah blows my mind. Only caveat to that is the level of elite managers seems pretty low at the moment.
I’m sure Barca fans felt the same when Pep was handed the reins there

Italy, National Team Coach after taking a few months off.

Coincidentally, they’re all taking a few months off watching the World Cup!
Conte has left Napoli. Expected to take the Italy job now. Apparently all pre-arranged and (respectfully) allowed to see the season out without the speculation Pep had to face.

Now if only Maresca would take the Napoli job offered to him earlier, we migbt keep the real baldy after all ;)

Ah to dream.

Willy, Roberto Vitielio, Danny Walker, and Michelle De Bernardi.

I believe Danny is still at Chelsea, whilst Willy, Roberto, and Michelle all walked with Enzo. They came with him from Leicester, so are obviously his core backroom team wherever he goes.
Oh also Marcos Alvarez and Javi Molina. All went Leicester to Chelsea with him.

I agree and I said this the other day, it’s all been very badly managed - by the club, sponsors, media, PR and events team, and frankly by Pep too with all this coy ‘I’ve got a contract’ talk which is dangling a carrot to the fans and isn’t fair at all if he knows he’s off.

They’ve had 10 years to plan this and it all feels very back of a fag packet last thing on a Friday afternoon type stuff.
They've known since early this year but didn't want the same situation as the one where Pellegrini was effectively undermined by the announcement Pep was coming, months in advance.

Is there a right way to do it? You either go down the Pellegrini route or, like now or when Mancini was sacked, hang on to the news and hope it doesn't get leaked. In both Mancini's and Pep's cases that was a forlorn hope.

Now we're not in a title race they should make it clear what the situation is, but the club's communication has always been piss poor.

Last night or this morning would have been perfect for an announcement, as it would overshadow Arsenal's title win.

I think we are dealing in semantics heren. City head the CFG so therefore we own half of it by default.
.
Er…CFG own Mcfc. No subsidiary owns the assets of their parent by default!
As CFG expands globally, Mcfc becomes a much smaller part of the whole. Get used to it.

I hope they find the leak. If it was Maresca and his team I hope we reconsider. I would have thought that anyone in the know would have signed watertight NDA'a.

I’ve been reading Tolmie’s posts for a long time. If it’s his own opinion he normally makes that clear. Right or wrong that reads like he has been told something rather than invention but that is just my opinion.

Maybe he will clear it up.
I stand by what I wrote. Maresca and Mendes have been linking his name since January.

He joined Mendes late last year and then started fires at Chelsea to extricate himself.

The tangled web becomes even worse when it includes Mendes and Fabrizio Romano being close to Viana for information, just as previously, Berrada was to Ornstein.

Maresca has this agreement in principle as the contingency to Pep but that hasn't stopped him also talking to Napoli and Juventus.

Pep has had one foot out of the door but he's an emotional guy and still not pulled the trigger, which isn't ideal for Maresca and Mendes.

I don't believe Olly Holt has any contact with a City sponsor or the Club was briefing anybody.

Who stands to gain the most outside of Pep leads me back to the same people who were telling some of the London pack in January that Maresca was the main name in the frame.

In the space of a couple of days Alonso was joining Chelsea and Pep was leaving City, I don't believe in coincidences.

Mendes is a puppeteer.

Ask yourself why City approached Maresca twice months ago.

Ask yourself if Maresca was professional or not in disclosing the interactions before someone else leaked them.

I’m not saying City were trying to get him for this summer or that they knew Pep was leaving, but they were definitely preparing for the potential eventuality.

How would you feel if Pep knew, the Club knew and Maresca had already agreed a deal, or even signed a deal already?

Pep has only said he’s going to talk to his Chairman this week. I’ll assume they’ll pay him up for his last year and he’ll go on his hols on Tuesday!

Don't disagree with any of that. It isn't contrary to my point.

Certainly wouldn't take what Tolmie says as gospel.
I was thinking equally about the first point TBH
If Maresca has not been informed by the Club that Pep has definitely decided to leave, then he should not be putting out the fact that he wants to meet the players next week.
And if he has been informed that he is definitely going, then he should be arranging such matters with the Club behind the scenes, and let Pep make a dignified exit first.
It seems like indecent haste to me, and totally unnecessary. Pep still has a year on his contract and so he would be perfectly entitled to take a short holiday and reflect on everything, once the season is over, before informing the club of his decision.
Both things together make me feel things are not as clear cut as some people are making out.

If the story is true then I`ll hold my hand up and say I`m totally gobsmacked at his decision, as I fully expected him to see out his remaining 12 months contract and possible sign an extension for a further 12 months.
Perhaps he needs a year out as a sabbatical and needs to recharge his batteries. Whatever the reason I can only say a massive thank you to the Club and Pep on this wonderous 10 years.
Good luck on your next venture Pep.
This is where I am at, too. Until the club or Pep say something different, he has a contract and he is loyal to it (and us).

He says he's staying another year, as far as I'm concerned he is.

Sorry if that offends. I thought we were all of the opinion on here that our centurions season was more of an achievement that arsenal's invincibles season. If looking at an "unbeaten run" uncritically without taking into account the below par performances and inadequate points return makes me a knob then so be it.
I didn’t call you a knob, I called you a pathetic muppet, which in my opinion you are. I don’t expect you to agree
