Correct. We (well, us FOCs) all remember what happened at "The World's Greatest Club" when Busby retired and became a director. Allegedly, he was down at the Cliff nearly every day. O'Farrell and McGuinness never stood a chance with a legend like him watching over them. Same in the modern era with GPC. If Pep is going, a clean break.
City own none of the co-op. CFG bought into it.We own half of co op live so we can use it when we want, no hiring required. Pep has said he's staying so why all the flapping.
'Rushing' the opening of the North Stand doesn't get any bigger than complying with a £300m contract. Using the Co-op, a venue that the club own but haven't had the chance to use for a club celebration before as it didn't exist is also a reason in itself, when two trophies and women's achievements are on the line.It does warrant a parade — it’s the event at Co-op Live with 20,000 tickets to sell, and the rushed opening of the North Stand, that suggest this is about something bigger than simply celebrating this season’s trophy haul.
They are all making the assumption that "normal service will be resumed" if and when Pep leaves - ie we revert to being the City that they remember in the 1980's and the cartel resumes full control of which clubs get the silverware and the money.Another gooner who can't believe their luck !
Sticking on a bit of QOTSA nowTo quote Josh Homme... no one knows.
But, Pep's leaving, Maresca is replacing him, we are all waiting for the official club announcement as they intended it, the media are cunts, shit's been leaked and spun into news, and possibly derailed our chance at taking the league to the last day, almost certainly left a bitter taste after pissing on our domestic double chips, there is a goodbye planned on Sunday, a parade on Monday, all pending confirmation and announcement from the club.. .. And now we wait.
You are welcome.
Who else is there?
Please don't see Enrique or Kompany who both quite clearly aren't interested.
I am excited tbf, let's see what a different manager can do. Id be excited if it was Kolo Toure as well. We have a squad of talent, why can't someone else succeed with them?"
I don’t mind Starmer, he’s doing his best, but in the context of football he’s a Gooner twat.Pep's moving on from Manchester according to our Prime Minister at Questions in the House of Commons just now.
Where did you get that from? Both of them rave about him (and are missing him)...He wasn’t liked by Chav and Leicester fans
I don’t want to speak ill of a great man like Shankly, but his comments about a chimpanzee being able to come in and be successful after him, seems bitter and condescending to the great man Paisley too.Similar story at Anfield. When Shankly retired, he was always coming down to training and hanging around. After a bit of it, Paisley took him aside and said, in a friendly but firm way, “Enough”.
And Paisley went on to become a more successful manager than Shankly, if that's measured in trophies. Although of course Shankly more or less built the modern LFC.
There will never be a time where we can live in peace, without the footballing elite and the sycophantic media, aren’t coming after us. We’re in a war with them and it’ll be indefinite.I think the reason that I am so pissed at all this is that the departure of the greatest manager we will ever have should have been announced in the classiest way possible. An announcement fitting for the class of the guy, the class of his football and the class of his achievements. Not this fucking mess where it has leaked and even he seems to be in denial.
They attack us off and on the pitch. I really shouldn't have expected his departure to be any different.
I'm the same. I can't for the life of me understand what Maresca has done in management that warrants him getting the City job. I can take Pep going, im gutted but he's given us 10 unbelievable years and deserves to go how/when he wants, but Maresca? Nah blows my mind. Only caveat to that is the level of elite managers seems pretty low at the moment. It's mental. I can't get my head around people saying they are excited about Maresca coming in. Is it just part of the coping mechanism? However you look at it, it's a massive downgrade.
Strange to put Unai Emery in that category instead of say, Enzo Maresca. Not sure our top players will respect him. I can’t help think this could be the start of some of our top players wanting something new. We really need a manager that has been successful, won trophies and that has the aura of Pep. An Enrique,a Zidane or Emery. Just don’t see it with Maresca.
I agree and I said this the other day, it’s all been very badly managed - by the club, sponsors, media, PR and events team, and frankly by Pep too with all this coy ‘I’ve got a contract’ talk which is dangling a carrot to the fans and isn’t fair at all if he knows he’s off.I think the reason that I am so pissed at all this is that the departure of the greatest manager we will ever have should have been announced in the classiest way possible. An announcement fitting for the class of the guy, the class of his football and the class of his achievements. Not this fucking mess where it has leaked and even he seems to be in denial.

I think a lot of it is this. Convinced he said he would be here 5 years stayed and stayed and she threatened divorceHe said last night he will speak to his children, possibly his ex wife as well, maybe they both want to be back together, and home in Barcelona.

Any player who doesn’t respect the manager can jog on, I don’t care whether that’s Haaland or some kid from the academy. Not sure our top players will respect him.
