The early railways were financed by private investment and they seemed to very well out of it. I don’t disagree that they need to be more savvy . As regards when the early railways were built they were design, build and operate models.

Instead we have the next to useless PPP type contracts which are another excuse for large multinationals to syphon off money from the taxpayers and I should know as Ive worked on enough of them and seen the amounts spent on legal and commercial management to maximise profits.

Too many to mention, theyre utter cunts hated by the majority of the country and i say that as a staunch ex labour supporter. It's not just their policies they lied to get into office and every single bill has gone through the roof since they've been in power.

National insurance increase for employers affecting availability of jobs and working hours.

Continuing to freeze the tax threshold which in real terms makes everyone worse off especially the low paid

Not taking decisive action on fuel increases beyond an already announced policy which did not relate to the Iranian crisis and account for the huge increase in the price of diesel in particular.

Thats three.

Good, we're all entitled to our opinion, including you and him. Lots of people are frustrated and fed up and that builds up. Many feel theyre not being listened to snd probably worse looked down on. You have to take that clip into some context too. How many times does a person stumble upon a major politician in their lifetime? Once, maybe twice at most unless you move in those circles. Then add to that one making a speech live on tv and it's even rarer. He had probably sixty seconds to get that frustration off his chest, with no chance to think.or prepare first, so it comes out ss a rant. He wouldn't have got longer even if he wasn't driving past as the police and security would have intervened.
So yes he had a bit of a go but these politicians need to hear a few home truths now and then outside of their self congratulatory bubble.

It’s perfectly fine to disagree with politicians and policies but that behaviour yesterday was disgusting and sadly symptomatic of the way any sort of manners and reasonable behaviour and language has disappeared from political debate.

You see it on here and we saw the worst of it yesterday.

Appears in public and doesn't like or expect the public speaking out, you're in Leeds lass not your Westmenster bubble. Im not sure he would have been allowed to wander over for a pleasant chat tbh mate. I disagree with the Farage bollocks but its his opinion I guess, dont like an opinion? Dont turn up for a bit of PR at a bloody garage in Leeds.
Anyhow need to make van drivers shouting an offence under the terrorism act now I guess:-)
 
I have been reading quite a bit about Blair's Prime Minister Delivery Unit which drove improvements to public services 1990-95. Whilst it was imperfect it did drive significant improvement in a fairly short timescale. The model has been used successfully by other governments throughout the world. Although Starmer is recreating elements of it I dont think it has the same teeth or focus. He really does need something that will provide visible evidence of improvements across Health, Transport, Immigration and the Economy.

And if this Government did such things, do you think the media would be awash with praise? I very much doubt it
