Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Now that the best squad and best team ever in world football have won the PL title with 82 (possibly rising to 85) points I think it opportune to remind people of the real rivalry between two genuinely great sides which produced the PL season 2018-19, won by City with 98 points, by a single point ahead of Liverpool. This rivalry that season produced the greatest match of the season and arguably the decade - arguably ever - on January 3, 2018 when City won a pulsating game 2-1. Never have two teams hit such heights at the same time and certainly Arsenal have got nowhere near. Those were the days.

That is absolutely unbelievable . They must be the only team in the league without a penalty or sending off ,given that they are a very physical side.
According to this guy, the first team in PL history. They are indeed the best ... at cheating

Just take it as a bit of fun, which is what it is. Hopefully this time next year Erling will be able to fire one back.
He doesn't really have to prove anything to those nobs tbh. 2 trophies this season, 2 prem leagues, a champs league, a treble, many goalscoring records. I'm sure arsenal winning one trophy will be water off a ducks back and itl be normal service resumed for him next season.
For all the criticism of Arsenal's style of play their ugly side led to goals and points. Ours led to no goals and frustration.

We must fix our stuttering attack. Then we'll be worthy champions imo.
We must fix our brain dead bone idle defending at times. Top scorers in the league and that's without handing out many beatings to teams so we've scored consistently all season.

Shot ourselves in the foot so often at the back though. The Everton game encapsulates that perfectly. We need a proper leader back there. We haven't had that since Dias became injury prone and regularly out of the side.

I think you mean 3rd January 2019, not 2018.

That's a funny thing to say. Given that we outscored them over the season. Quite comfortably.
Oh and we're on identical goal difference.

Congratulations? I wish them luck with a capital F.
Not because I dislike the club. I'm probably one of the few on here that has never had any problems with Arsenal, and I had at least one good mate years back who was a proper match-going supporter, and he knew his football. He was respectful of the team I supported, and vice versa.
Not because of their fans. They're a minor irritant, compared to the feral dips, and the insufferably arrogant rags (although that's diminishing slightly with time as they're obliged to eat the humble pie of trophyless seasons, and console themselves with the Assists Cup!).
No, it's the football they've played and the way they've played it. They've won the league —— square. Fair and square? Hmmm…

Those stats don't tell the story of the season that I saw.

We dropped points because we couldn't score enough to protect a result from a mistake at the back.

Arsenal's story to me seemed to be about getting away with murder in the box (like Liverpool years ago). But it worked. Just.

I see it completely differently. Players are humans and will make mistakes so conceding goals is inevitable. To win leagues you need to score enough to protect results. We were shocking too often. There's no point in glossing over that now.

To win leagues you need to be as solid at the back as possible. You can't just score loads of goals and expect to win every game scoring 2 or 3.

You make fewer mistakes at the back you put less pressure on needing more goals.

Look at Arsenal. Scraping by with 1-0 wins of late. Those results have got them over the line along with us. Contrast to us who shat the bed from a position of utter dominance against Everton which has pretty much proved to be the decisive game.

By your logic the problem in that game was us not scoring 4, instead of looking at the absolute circus that was our backline in that second half.

Ya that is my logic. :-)

The Beatles had singles that went to number one in the charts, so did the Spice Girls.

As crap as the Spice Girls were I think you're giving Arsenal too much credit. Joe Dolce managed to get to number 1 too, just saying.

(Edit: just had a quick read about modern day payola type scandals and maybe BTS would be the closest match.)

Migel Delaney is absolutely obsessed by us.
This week he has reported that Pep is the figurehead of a sports-washing project.
Now it is how Arsenal have overcome our financial might: he no longer considers net-spend (since ours became much lower than others) but states that our wage-bill is five Sakas more than Arsenal's. I don't know that currency - is it a crypto coin?
All this when we didn't win the league; imagine if we had?
