Pep to leave at the end of the season

It's not though has it. The news broke Monday tea time before Arsenal played Burnley. It's now Wednesday night. Every single tabloid newspaper and broadcaster has gone big on it. Rival fans shooting their beans left, right and centre.

The City fanbase has gone into mourning, everyone learning to accept hes gone.

Yet the club have kept silent. All the while the title race is over. Nothing left to compete for and the last home game of the season is 4 days away with a parade planned on Monday.

I repeat my point, all a bit strange.
Let's think about that timeline

Monday - travel to Bournemouth after being home for about 36 hours after winning the cup. Story breaks
Tuesday - match day, quite an important one although ultimately disappointing
Weds - probably got home from Bournemouth in the early hours, scheduled day off. Kit release day, scheduled Bernardo video release day

So they're back in tomorrow. There might even be a meeting with the players and the backroom staff - coaches, kitmen, admin staff, etc.

Then a formal announcement might be made. He'll have a presser on Friday and surely won't fancy that bollocks again, so I'd wager Friday AM.

It’s a shambles… I get it was leaked but the club could have done the right thing before telling the sponsors OR cut the timeline between telling them and the general announcement to hours…
Why the fuck should the club change their official plans just because some tawt has leaked it?

The key word here is PLANS - these things take time to arrange and discussions may not even be complete. Pep did say he was going to speak to the chairman, although if he is leaving everyone who needs to know within the club will already know.

There's no reason to do anything else, if people choose to believe the media and hope they're right that's their choice.

That's no different than the melts on here who thought we should have won 5-0 at Burnley. Bottom line is he got a Leicester team that was in disarray back into the Prem at the first attempt, got Chelsea to the CWC Final and Euro Conference final and won both (you can knock it, but what else have they done lately?), and he was here when we did the treble which means he knows a lot of the players, especially the younger ones he coached, and knows the club inside out.
No one can replace Pep but I’m concerned about Maresca, I know even Pep has his detractors on here but I think they’re ungrateful and misguided. For me Maresca just doesn’t have the aura, respect or pulling power of Pep, I’ll support him 100% as I did when we appointed Alan Ball but I’m not confident.

BTW, I’m not a “melt” who thought we should beat Burnley 5-0 and I’m not entitled enough to think we deserve trophies every season but we’ve been spoilt and a period of less success will probably kick in, the Premier League is too competitive for any Manager to replicate what Pep has done.

I'm guessing there will be an official announcement at 10:00 AM on Friday. Giving Pep plenty of time to deal with the bombardment at the press conference. Might be wrong but I took a chance on a new ale tonight and it was spot on!
I think you’re right. Tomorrow the focus will be on John Stones, Friday it’s Pep Guardiola leaving, Saturday Enzo Maresca, and Sunday/Monday we celebrate a very successful season for the club and a decade of Pep, John and Bernardo.

If Pep does go, he does so as a living legend.
Gave me and my family some of the happiest memories in our lives.
I would love him to stay longer but he’s already stayed longer than I ever thought he would.
Maybe it’s time for Pep to focus on himself and his family. If stories are to believed, he sacrificed his marriage for the love of City and wanting to stay to get us back in a strong position, he’s done exactly that.
Two cups is not to be sniffed at, winning trophies was only ever a pipe dream for so many of us, and our Pep has won us the lot.
IF he does go, I’ll get right behind whoever takes over and can only hope and pray that the next incumbent wins 1/2 as much as Pep.

‘Needy’ - do one. I think it’s a fucking joke neither the club or Pep has said anything. Absolute piss take.
Only to you. If the club and/or Pep have decided when to announcehe's leaving, IF he's leaving, why should they change it just because some moron leaked it and some of you can't wait until the official announcement? If I'd made a decision within my business i'd tell people when I was ready, NOT when somebody else decided I should.

Two cups is not to be sniffed at but Pep is a perfectionist. We haven’t got the league and that will niggle at him. If we’d won last night I’d have no doubt he’d be off. But we didn’t and now he’s got unfinished business.

If we're cleared of everything those cunts will still say we're guilty,I don't think any of the fuckers have heard of the innocent until proved guilty standard, fuck the lot of them with their poisoned bile spewing rumours
No argument from me there.

I want them not to react to the leaks, on principle alone. Fuck them.

Didn't comment on the rumours, ignored the speculation, didn’t even engage with the provocative loaded trap questions. Why should they suddenly rush statements because some deliberately ran it at the worst possible time, despite being told the official that stance same day. Disrespectful self-serving cunts.

Well said pal. Super post, that.

I'm not suggesting you are, but there are plenty of them on here. The question here though is who do we get who we can be sure will do a good job?

We're not going to get another Pep, that's extremely unlikely but he's a guy who worked with the youth squad and was good enough for Pep to want to work with him and did so when we won the treble. He then went to a Leicester side that were said to be in disarray, got rid of the old has-beens and got them promoted on a limited budget in his first season, then when to Chelsea and won two trophies and got them up to 4th, again in his first season, says to me he must have something about him.

And it's as close as you'll get to promoting from within which served Liverpool well for a very long time. I actually suspect he may have been recommended by Pep.

IF any of this is true. We don't yet know if Pep is leaving for sure, or if Maresca is taking over so there is no point worrying about it.
