Well if anyone had bothered to do any sort of research at all they would have seen the exact player Reijnders is and wouldn't be so critical of him for things he has always been crap at.

The bloke scored goals and got assists for fun at Milan but he comes here and people are asking why he cant tackle. 15 G/A this year, probably could have grabbed another 10 as well if he had a bit of luck.

It doesn’t excuse his anonymity in games though. He makes the wrong decision 7/10 times a game but sometimes gets a goal contribution to cover it up. We’ve gone from D Silva, B Silva, Gundogan & KDB dominating games in the final third at 23+ to Reijnders doing a disappearing act at 27 in his prime. His impact has been inconsistent at best.

maybe we should stop fine tuning players to fit in and go for proper players? That hasn´t really worked that well in the last 2 seasons. Need to get back to Europes best and it won´t happen without signing some very good players ,even more ,when Bernardo is leaving and so might Rodri.

Brought in as Italian player of the year, to help replace Gundogan and maybe parts of KDB's role.

He did neither.

He's ahead scratcher.
Don't think I've ever been as confused about a players worth to the team as Reinjinders.
Maybe next season,after a full season with us we will see Brilliance.
Fwiw,he seems to me,to be a player suited to European games...not so much the battle of the league domestic games.
We will see.

I suspect Cherki goes back to RW under Maresca, because of the control wingers he prefers.

This free's up the 10 for a high volume box crasher that I think he likes.

Foden and Reijnders are very suited to this, especially with 2 midfielders behind them.

Thinking to next season (because you still have Bernie there and no new signings so I assume your team is for this season)

I'd go
Traff ---> Superior on the ground passing
Nunes/Guehi ---> RB into RCB
Khus/Dias ---> RCB into CCB as a fast sweeper
Gvardiol/Reis ---> LCB, Reis while right footed, has played primarily LCB at Girona
O Reilly/RAN ---> LB into some attacking role on ball

Anderson/Nunes/Foden/???
Rodri/O Reilly/???

The midfield 2 is the most difficult as I don't know what'll happen to Rodri, Kova and Nico G. I also think all 3 of Foden, Nunes and O Reilly can easily fill here as backups as well.
