As everybody seems to be speculating here's my two pence worth...

What's probably occurred has Pep's said a good while ago he'd be leaving at the end of this season. To him it felt so far in the future that he was comfortable with that decision. Since then he seemed to have got his mojo back, things beginning to click with an almost entirely fresh squad and working with Pep2 had reinvigorated him. He knows there's potentially another chapter there in his reign at City. As the time has approached it has now fully dawned on him the magnitude of leaving. He's probably exhausted and needs a proper break, but realises in 6 months time or whatever he'd be fully recharged and would love to be able to walk back into the club.

I think he knows he's not getting it better anywhere else. The amount of control he has, the mutual love everybody has for him. Some are suggesting he might go into international football, but I personally think he'd hate that as he is so OCD. Can you imagine the amount of face scratching he'd do with players pulling out of his squads for questionable reasons? Not being able to work with players on a day to day basis etc.

I'd love him to continue, but if his decision is to leave I hope it isn't something he is going to regret in a few months time.

An era, and an epic one, has come to an end. Inevitably.

I'm very grateful for so many fantastic and joyful moments along the way. Pep was great and so was the squad we had.

Said it before, but esp. King Kev De Bruyne had a major impact in our success with his aggressive way to play, to run, to counter and to pull the trigger immediately with a powerful finish or a perfect curler. But there where many more true winners and the mix was just superb. I hope our scouting goes back to finding winners with an outstanding personality.
We have too many soft candidates currently. IMO.

Now, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a huge overhaul of our squad.
That quite some of the old guard say farewell too.

I have to wait and see what Maresca offers in terms of philosophy, system and communication.
The term 'transition' over the last seasons was a bit of a poor excuse for me not winning the PL. Next season we'll nearly start from zero
- into the post Pep era.

I would love him here forever and we all know it was going to be next year at the latest and we would feel no different next year.

Time to get excited for the future now and get behind the new manager. Every single manager is a "downgrade" on Pep, so let's not use that as a stick to beat the new manager with.

Good luck with that, some of the cretins on here that were calling for him to go a few months ago will be the first in the queue to say "This ones on Enzo, He is not as good as Pep" if we are not 2.0 up after 10 minutes in his first game :-)

Pep forged three teams in Barca Bayern and City that are quite possibly the best three teams the World has ever seen.

There is no doubt he is the best football manager ever anywhere and he stayed with us for ten years of his life. 10 years 20 trophies. What a ride.

The iconic players of the Pep era have gone, the like of David Silva, Kev, Aguero, Fernandinho to name a few, Bernado and Johnny Boulders going at the end of the season, it does seem like the right time to change (or commit to another 5 years), so thank you Pep for delivering what I never considered possible in my wildest dreams. It will almost certainly never be the same again but rather than mourn that I'll remember what we had and what a mad fucker he is as I'm watching wimbledon dump us out of the FA cup in the 3rd round.
