Seat Counters 25/26

That was pay at the gate days, that finished a long time ago, and if the away end was full you went in with the home fans
Went in the away area of the Kippax, when City got promoted at home to Charlton Athletic, at Maine Road.
Any way was used to get in, at sell-out matches...

Attendance guess: 59,000. I don't think the Skybar will be open so I think it will be sub-capacity.

According to my google search, the last time City had an attendance of 60,000 plus was 29 January 1969, when 60,844 fans watched Manchester City defeat Newcastle United 2-0 in an FA Cup fourth-round replay. Earlier that same season, Maine Road also brought in 63,052 spectators for a Manchester Derby league match against Manchester United on 17 August 1968.

I was at both games, brilliant they were.

I started following City around 1975. Just a few games a season when my Dad took me. I remember that around 1977 we'd average about 45k at Maine Rd, and Utd had about 52k at Old Trafford, and then they started to expand Old Trafford.

Could be the first 60k plus attendance at home since 63'326 watched the 3-3 draw with the raggie bastards in Nov 1971. Maine Road was reduced to 52k the season after.
