Enzo Maresca

I will miss Pep forever, but I am very excited to see what is to come.
Who will we buy? How will the players respond to someone new? How will we line up and play? How will he deal with the media scrutiny?
This is a seismic move because of Pep's status in the game. There is nobody in world football who is a harder act to follow: his record, the respect he commands, his genius. Only Luis Enrique could possibly arrive with few doubts. Anyone else is a different ball-game.

Outstanding leaders have watched Maresca up close. They recruited him and worked with him. They know him and they have chosen to recruit him once more (it seems). That marks him out as someone special in his own right; perhaps he just hasn't had the chance to show it to its fullest yet.

Exactly..Maresca will have my support. I am looking forward to what direction we go. Exciting times....

Yes, i have doubts but that is normal. We are just used to Pep and the stability of the last 10 years and what we did.

But Maresca knows the club and how we operate which is a huge tick for me.

The good thing as well, is that our club is stable and not got people in charge who are gung-ho that make rash decisions like sime other clubs we know.

He played his part in getting Wimbledon relegated wearing wellies.
Loved when he took training in shorts and wellies.

His philosphy was simple

Launch from the back to a 6ft 4 Norweigan.Don’t risk losing the ball at the back.

We can apply it we just need to get in Jonny Wilkinsson in as lumping coach.

We have seen us win everything, so personally not arsed what comes next trophy wise, will see everyone as I aways have, as a bonus.

All I want from the next manager and sqaud is to be entertained and see football which sends me home proud of the team and effort and also made me happy to watch despite the result.

Agree but no one will except an entertaining losing team! We finish 4th next 3 seasons and win nothing no one will except that and our owner Khaldoon would not! It’s fine balance, for example look at Arsenal under Arteta first few years great football but a losing team now this year horrible to watch and they are a winning team!

YES!
I am most excited by watching how players like Cherki, O'Reilly, and Khus develop. There is so much young talent coming through: what will happen with Reis and Mfuni and McAidoo, for example.

The day we decide a trophy is worth playing like arsenal did this season is the day I give up on city, it was acceptable to have play however was necessary when we were fighting for our lives scraping to survive, and even then most blues hated it, but not now, not for me.

Khaldoon can do whatever he wants as chairman, I am on about what I want not him.

He did really well at Leicester and outperformed expectations at Chelsea. Both clubs have nosedived since he left.

Given his previous experience working at the CFG and under Pep, it seems a really good fit to me.

Watched the treble documentary last night. He’s in it in parts and he watches and listens to Pep with such intent.

Yep. In 2008, Barcelona need to replace an incredibly successful Frank Rijkaard, and the obvious decision was to get a proven manager like Mourinho. Instead, they chose someone who they'd seen work day in and day out in the youth setup, and the rest is history. The same people (I imagine Txiki was involved since apparently he's been the plan for a while) are doing the same thing now, except that our choice has already got a bit of experience as a head coach. Hopefully it works out just as well as it did for Barca.

When you have lived with Pep for 10 years you understand what he has done top to bottom in the club. Involving every member of staff in trying to be the best they can be. Being a role model not just for his coaching team and players but everyone. Managing the personalities of an elite squad whilst demanding only the very best behaviours he has built deep relationships that have ensured the very best stayed with him and followed his lead. It is incredible what he has done and it’s difficult to imagine anyone achieving the breadth of what he has done. It will be fascinating to see how Maresca goes about it.

He must have some balls following Pep.
Good luck to the lad ,you will have the best facilities and the best run club behind you.
Whatever you do don't read the matchday thread on Bluemoan, the posters are up and down like a "whores knickers".
Ps ,if you could sort the ticket office out you will become a legend, and supercede that other bald fraud who couldn't.
Can he get you and Mitch to leave a bit later?

All I’ve ever wanted from our team is to put a shift in and play good football. If he continues with that I’m ok. Will miss Pep mind. Bobby manc and Charming man did us proud.
