3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

There was a late bailey chance that either Stones or Dias attempted to block, I hope to god it was Stones because whoever it was they looked like they were running in slow motion.

Does he still train the way he did when he first got here, doing all those extras?

A lot of players can change their routines as they get on a bit when they've become comfortable, wondering if that's what he's done and needs to return to it. Would give an explanation as to why he regularly looks off nowadays.

He is 4th in our CB pecking order with his last few seasons. He had the trajectory of being the backbone of our defence and has ended up losing his composure.

Khusanov made a lot of stupid mistakes against Everton. From TV I could sense how nervous he was and wasn't ready for that pressure. That's when players like Ruben are vital.

Skills aren nothing without experience, leadership and winning mentality.

Ruben is a great CB and I don't think people writing him off understand that club extended his contract for a reason.

He will be first choice and most probably will be chosen as a captain.

If everyone stays

Ruben-Gvardiol is our main defensive duo
Khusanov-Guehi are subs..

Disagree there mate, Gvardiol needs to play but Guehi besides the Everton fuck up is immense!

Gvardiol and Khusanov for me..

Dias has been average for 3 seasons now and we still have people think he is better than a CB pairing that delivered two cups and nearly delivered a PL title?

Ideally he would be following Stones and Bernado.

I fear the new manager will put more stock in Dias because he's "experienced" at the expense of the likes of Khusanov, who is much better at this point.

Ideally, you should know better.

I love it how people on the net know the mistakes the new manager is likely to make.

Even if Dias has a restricted role rather than one of a firm starter, any manager would like to have him in the team. The thing is, he can play for a team currently better than this City team, say, Barcelona.

Losing our leaders won't do us any favours. Fortunately, the new manager isn't likely to be clueless.

We need proper cover players for our starting players, therefore Guehi being immense is great thing and I don't think considering our previous experiences with injuries, any of our CBs will have a lack of minutes.

But order I think is following right now, if we are realistic: Ruben, Gvardiol, Guehi, Khusanov..

Just dont think Khusa can be left out personally.

Me as well..

Considering his pace, I think he should be used more as a RCB

For me, this is our best Starting 11 right now:

----------------------Donarumma-----------------------
------Khusanov-----Ruben/Guehi------Gvardiol------
----------------Rodri--------------Oreilly-----------------
Semenyo-----Cherki--------Foden/Reijnders----Doku
------------------------Haalaand--------------------------

I would rotate Matheus and Oreilly as inverted fullbacks and in front we would have 4 players behind Haaland.

He is still a bit raw for me but with a better midfield in front of him, he will have more time to develop without being faced with quick breaks.

Our problem is our midfield. Rodri doesn’t look anywhere near the player he was and might leave anyway, Bernado has left, Kovacic is too old and slow, Gonzalez isn’t good enough and Reijnders is just crap. You could argue we will need 5 new players if Rodri goes and four if he doesn’t.
