Its interesting times isn't it. With the player profile we have we could actually be a really effective counter attacking team (doku, sem, big erl, cherki playing the quick passes). Being really solid at the back and with the potential of teams having more of a go go post-Pep we could be pretty devastating

Unfortunately anything less than the league and the cup in his first season, and the pressure will ramp up, mostly from external sources and impatient fans, regardless of how good the football is or not. I'm not sure how realistic it is to expect that in a first season, and but there is an expectation here at this club to compete.

Whoever comes in will be made to understand that, we are capable of the title technically and physically, the league was imo pretty poor this past season, and I see no evidence that arsenal are about to create some kind of legacy - lowest number of goals scored by the champions since Leicester, and just a rule change away from having 40-50% of their expected goals disallowed.

Pellegrini got the league in his first season in England and was universally ignored for the success by most of the media. Whilst us as fans and the club will give whoever it is the time to build and create that team and not expect everything at once, barring a finish outside of the European places which I feel would lead to a dismissal, there has to be a push for silverware immediately also.

We know he wont do what Pep did but who has in the history of English football?! Still think he will win things though and deserves to get the backing of the fans from the start.

Whist I agree with the sentiment, two completely different appointments. Maresca won’t be naive, knowing the that he won’t be given time, and will be expected to hit the ground running.
 
I get a feeling, which I am sure is the same for many, he has been in and around us for quite some time already since leaving Chelsea.

He knows the club, the players and our ethos. I think he should be given time, but I cannot see how he couldn't hit the ground running.

Yes there is recruitment needed, but the squad is extremely talented, any managers DREAM, I don't see how we shouldn't expect a trophy, or at least a final or two in his first season.

I think anything lower than second place in the league, barring unforeseen circumstances, would be tremendously disappointing. We finished comfortably second this season, we plan to spend a lot more money and sell players surplus to requirements. Away from Arteta, all of the so-called 'big six' clubs will have new permanent managers when the season kicks off (I think Slot gets sacked). Maresca being new puts him at no disadvantage when up against Alonso and Liverpool's new manager, and not really at a disadvantage against De Zerbi and Carrick, who both turned up in the last few months.

By all means we should get behind Maresca, but we should still hold him to very high standards that, if not met, should only mean one thing.
 
It’s the players who have to get in board when we go through a poor spell and especially the captains the influential ones to calm it down to believe in Maresca because if that doesn’t happen we will be battling for top 5.. oh the media will be all over it being so negative and this player ain’t happy this player looking to leave! The club PR have to be all over it and don’t let it all fester even if it’s for our weak minded fans who believe it!

The club gave Hughes plenty of time they gave Pelegrini 3 years! We will give Maresca 3 years unless we don’t get champs league for two years running! It’s a slippery slope if you sack a manger after 12/18 months! We seen it all through the premier league!
 
He has to have some leeway to get his own ideas in place and mould the squad along with Hugo Instant success and its he's doing to with Pep's team, just like Slot. The club wont regards this as short term and we has fans have to understand that there has to be some patience he's not a stop gap and I hope he's the manager well into the next decade
He is definitely his own man he showed at Chelsea that he wont stand for interference and if not in his plans then its arriverdici
 
Very few managers get the time to pre-plan their arrival at a club the way Marezca has been lined up by City. It doesn't guarantee success, but his inside knowledge of City and his preparation certainly gives him an advantage coming in. Let's hope it works out. Really interesting time for City coming up, which is fascinating and daunting at the same time. Up the blues!
