Savinho | May 2026 - Spurs linked again (p218)

Awful player and taking a spot off another to come in.

Iv seen enough to know that up to now he is not good enough for city.

Sav
Rico
Tiny
Nico G unfortunately
Kova injuries

Serious doubt over AIT and Mar.

Time to get ruthless again. If sav was starting games and ripping it up this would not be a discussion.
Tiny?
Am I being thick here?

At right wing one of the worst players players I've seen in a city shirt under pep however at left wing I think he has potential. Obviously if we get 60+ I'd sell but I think I would be firm with that price because he still could be a brilliant player for us.

You get rid of Savinho the winger market is awful, . The top 3 wingers moving this summer is Diomande, Barcola and Anthony Gordon and they are going cost in excess of 60 million. Or you take a punt and risk on potential and go for Said el Mala or Godts at Ajax.

Spurs were interested last season but they have completely changed their footballing hierarchy since then. Assuming that they would still interested is more likely lazy journalism.

Who replaces him is the most important question. Not against selling him but only if we bring in someone better and there are no obvious targets in a world where wingers are currently at a premium.

He's very talented. Right now it doesn't look like he's ready to step up and make the most of the talent but a large number of people wanted us to get rid of Doku over the last 2 years and said similar things to what they're now saying about Savinho.

This is generally where I'm at, but I also think if we get offered £50m+ they might just need to sell regardless at this point. Because if they reject big money for him two years in a row, when he's been open to the move two years in a row, it would put a huge amount of pressure on him and I'm not sure that he's mature enough to handle that.

The difference between Doku and Savinho is mentality. Doku's numbers weren't amazing first season but he played in big games and didn't let us down. Savinho is clearly much more of a confidence player - when he gets a goal or assist he goes up three levels, but it doesn't happen often enough.

Taking the money and reinvesting some or all of it into another young project winger is the 'safe' option.

Doku went away in pre season and analysed where he was going wrong and looked to improve. Savinho has to want to do that, he can go past players, is quick but doesn’t have that radar of when to pass or shoot and in that split second the attack breaks down.
