Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Cheers. Somehow got across the line although I've seen prettier football from Arsenal teams in my life!
Tbh I can understand the nervousness and closing up shop mentality towards the end of the season after playing some attractive football early doors. No arguments, if you finish top of the pile you deserve it. I’m hopeful for a resurgence from City next season, starting from game one. Enjoy being champions, when we first won the premier league in 2012 it was ace and hard to comprehend we had finally done it.

Surely they’ll get no favours from UEFA. The corrupt premier league might be content with Arsenals eyesore football and dinosaur tactics representing them but im certain Uefa would much prefer the beautiful football PSG play being highlighted
European football has favoured teams that use the 'dark arts' as part of their gameplay for decades, it's why Liverpool did nothing domestically for years but were successful in Europe. How many team have won the Champions League in the last 25 years without diving, whingeing, timewasting, playacting, etc as part of their tactics? I count maybe 4 that I can remember.
Arsenal's diving, fake head injuries, off the ball shithousery, sly pulls and trips are normal in UEFA games. They more than likely won't get away with the wrestling like they have in the league but I'm sure Arteta and his team will have calculated exactly what rules they'll be able to break with the assigned referee and have put all their effort into working out how to get the 'marginal gains' they need.

Liverpool have won 1 champions league in 20 years? Is that really considered being successful in Europe?

Then got told it didn't count unless you done it back to back...

Tbh I wouldn’t rule it out. Especially if Trossard’s brother is the referee!

I’ve a theory how you got over the line…
What are your own thoughts on your team not receiving a red card all season? That’s a full season,in a league as competitive as the Prem, where not one of your players, were deemed to have committed two yellow card offences in the same game!?Also, no penalty conceded all season, with that f’kin wrestling free for all that they have perfected!?Sorry to sound sour but I’m of the opinion that if both teams were reffed equally/fairly,then City would’ve come out on top again…

I think the banter comes from the bottle bloke and also Haaland's comments last season. At a club level Arsenal have seen City as the blueprint so I'd ignore anything else.

Re this being the ceiling of Arsenal - I'd doubt that tbh. They've been playing with the handbrake on due to psychological stresses and it may be that with the monkey off their backs the players will feel more free. Added to the Kroenkes saying they'll invest heavily in the summer, a young squad, an already established top class defensive unit and keeper, the foundations are there. I'm not saying this heralds a period of dominance or anything like that (just look at how the Dippers fell off a cliff when everyone was saying they'd piss the league) but I do think this Arsenal group has plenty of room to grow. I don't think the Dippers do. I think City do and sadly I think the Rags also do.

Re Spanish giants coming in for our players - Barca don't have a pot to piss in. Madrid would be an enticing option for players like Saliba but he's on a long-term contract so they won't be able to do their usual shitty coercing behind the scenes behaviour like they usually do and instead will have to write a fat cheque.
Your record against the top clubs was very poor which indicates to me you over-achieved this season. It is a bit like 2023/24 when we got over the line but the team was clearly in decline as you saw first in the FA cup final against the scum. Also the rule changes will be unfavorable and it is unlikely (having won it) that you will benefit from such ref/VAR largesse.

My prediction is you don't win the title next year and may not be 2nd either.

On the flip side last season and the season before we had a great record against the top 6 and won fuck all.

Who knows about next year - will focus on Saturday 1st and then see what happens. We'll invest heavily in the summer for sure.

We got away with some for sure but I don't think that means City necessarily come out on top as some decisions went for you as well.

I do think the non-penalty vs Foden at SJP was an outrageous decision though.
