Maybe the language? But of course you do know that only a very small % of those that enter Europe as a refugee or asylum seeker try to come here. The vast majority stay within Europe with Germany, Spain, France taking considerably more and per capita we are actually close to the bottom of the list.

They do but don’t care.

Allowing as many in as possible is a hill they’re willing to die on.

Pressure on already stretched services can always be blamed on anyone but themselves and the current lot.
 
Since we left the EU, anyone turned down for asylum in the EU can have a second bite of the cherry here. This did not use to be the case.

Other factors:

1. English language. Widely taught around the world. I suppose we could all start learning Welsh and pretend not to understand.

2. Relatives already here.

3. Our very slack labour laws, coupled with no ID cards. (Which, strangely, the people most opposed to immigration dislike with a passion.) A thriving black economy with plenty of cash-in-hand work. (Funnily, 'patriots' often favour cash-in-hand too. Odd, isn't it?)

Getting silly.

Having recently experienced a need for more NHS attention than routine, I reckon I'm in no position to talk about stretched services as I've done my share of the stretching.

Or just build a huge wave machine. It can generate some energy whilst also make the sea extremely choppy and unsafe to cross. Like on of those at Centerparcs.

Have you paid into the system all your working life? Did your parents and their parents pay in too?
Have you had to be funded for ESOL? Have you been homeless and in need of housing? Do you have an unknown past where any crimes are unknown, including serious ones? Have you had to be funded to learn new skills? Have you had to have an interpreter paid for in every contact with a public official (interviews/appointments that take twice as long as the norm)?
Or did you just work in an unskilled job where no English was required and it was cash in hand for less than the NMW and no NI or tax paid?
Did you enter the UK because France or wherever rejected your application to stay there because they found your reasons for asylum unjustified?
Or did you fabricate being gay after being advised to do so by an immigration lawyer? You know...that thing Labour has acknowledged is happening.

People on both sides are being exploited and you are condoning it.

Them kids didn’t need their own housing, translators, asylum applications processed, money to live on etc so it’s absurd to compare the two.

Anyroad as I’ve said before we should tax asylum seekers more once they are working -that should help offset impacts.

Here's a response to the Daily Mail's blame of Labour's minimum wage increases for the increase in youth unemployment, I kid you not:

Mental health and Wokism needs to go first then all these stupid useless degrees. 16 yr olds who leave school should be told NO dole you must attend a training college for engineering, mechanics plumbers electrician etc. A modern version of the YTS needs bringing back. We need skilled workers not criminologists, and kids who leave Uni with degrees in diversity etc.

He obviously doesn't realise that benefits are not generally available to 16 year olds. Nor has he considered the decline in the manufacturing base and apprenticeships. We do need skilled workers, of course, but there has to be a willingness to employ and the work to give.

Immigration overall is plummeting under Labour - if it follows the current trajectory could soon reach net zero. In fact industry has been complaining that it is going down too fast & they can't recruit workers to which Shabiba Mahmood has said " Well stop paying shit wages & you will attract British workers to fill those roles". This was all reported on Andrew Marrs channel on LBC. He had on his show a reporter from the Times (think it was Andrew Nelson) who was nodding in agreement when Andrew Marrs was saying this. And the Times is hardly a friend of Labour. Even though there was 1000 reportedly coming over on boats Marrs said this is 20 per cent down on last year.

Plus my good friend is an electrician who tried tutoring in a college with 17 year olds who had to be there rather than wanting to be electricians.

Not a happy experience for anyone.

Possibly because unlike major - or perhaps all - European countries we don't have ID cards and people who come here can just disappear into the grey economy/modern slavery.

If you remember, when the Labour government proposed having ID cards some years ago, pretty much the same people who are currently masquerading as patriots, roundabout painters and friends of Nigel and Tommy objected vehemently about "are freedoms."

ID cards are a waste of time.
Cost a fortune for bugger all result. Just need to cleanse the passport, national health, national insurance and driving databases.
For something like a 50th of the cost.
