His support of Trump has to raise serious questions. He must be compromised in some way. No other explanation bears any meaningful scrutiny.
Labour is going through one of its periods of not liking being in power. They much prefer fighting for the 'soul' of the party whatever that might mean. They are a bunch of pygmies which precisely matches a country that has become LilliputThe hostility towards Blair on here is almost universal, let me be the one to point out that he is the most successful Labour leader in history in terms of keeping the party in power. His continuing appeal to the centre is probably well ahead of any of the candidates for PM.
Can you expand those reasons, tbh I'm puzzled by 'hopelessly anachronistic'.Moreover, his perspective on the centre ground of British politics is hopelessly anachronistic, for various reasons.
That's a pretty bleak analysis and matches that of Blair I think when he talks about us being relegated from the PL of world powers.Labour is going through one of its periods of not liking being in power. They much prefer fighting for the 'soul' of the party whatever that might mean. They are a bunch of pygmies which precisely matches a country that has become Lilliput
He was PM when living standards were inexorably rising and most people thought things in society were broadly getting better. As they broadly had been for decades. Can you expand those reasons, tbh I'm puzzled by 'hopelessly anachronistic'.
Not a view I enjoy holding but the country as I see it. I'm struggling to think of sector where we have not become a tinpot country, healthcare in all aspects, transport, energy , defence, educational standards, law enforcement. Please tell me where I'm going wrongThat's a pretty bleak analysis and matches that of Blair I think when he talks about us being relegated from the PL of world powers.
Not sure you can disassociate him and his politics from the continued rise in living standards when he was in power. Especially when you see what the left had done to Callaghan previously, Blair's electoral popularity was predicated on Kinnock's defeat of Militant, Scargill et al - a path Starmer has tried to follow but the class warriors are all behind Burnham now, anxious to purify the party again. He was PM when living standards were inexorably rising and most people thought things in society were broadly getting better. As they broadly had been for decades.
He applies that paradigm to his current perspective on the political landscape. It is hopelessly anachronistic.
Left, right, centre - most cunts think everything is shite, and getting discernibly worse. His perspective is not founded upon that reality.
And then there are his treacherous comments on Trump, who is plainly a security threat to the the UK and Europe. He’s plainly compromised in some way. And this is why I now think he’s a ****.
This ^.His support of Trump has to raise serious questions. He must be compromised in some way. No other explanation bears any meaningful scrutiny.
Thatcher was successful and she gets plenty of hostility, the centre isn"t what it used to be anymore. It had its chance and people are turning from its charade of being all things to all men(and women)The hostility towards Blair on here is almost universal, let me be the one to point out that he is the most successful Labour leader in history in terms of keeping the party in power. Thatcher' s policies appeared to be successful at the time but in the long run they have been disastrous. They pandered to a section of the media which is even more powerful todayThatcher was successful and she gets plenty of hostility, the centre isn"t what it used to be anymore. It had its chance and people are turning from its charade of being all things to all men(and women)
I read recently that Labour love being in opposition because it means shouting at people.Labour is going through one of its periods of not liking being in power. They much prefer fighting for the 'soul' of the party whatever that might mean. They are a bunch of pygmies which precisely matches a country that has become Lilliput
As you say, sad but true. Globalization and rising population levels are inexorably increasing the competition for resources and we are currently among the losers. Not a view I enjoy holding but the country as I see it. I'm struggling to think of sector where we have not become a tinpot country, healthcare in all aspects, transport, energy , defence, educational standards, law enforcement. Please tell me where I'm going wrong
Like nobody knew any of that ...The hostility towards Blair on here is almost universal, let me be the one to point out that he is the most successful Labour leader in history in terms of keeping the party in power.
Yet the hostility is almost universal ?His continuing appeal to the centre is probably well ahead of any of the candidates for PM.
I didnt mind Blair at the time. Not sure you can disassociate him and his politics from the continued rise in living standards when he was in power. Especially when you see what the left had done to Callaghan previously, Blair's electoral popularity was predicated on Kinnock's defeat of Militant, Scargill et al - a path Starmer has tried to follow but the class warriors are all behind Burnham now, anxious to purify the party again.
on here it is, along with the collapse 'Centrism' apparently (whatever that is)Like nobody knew any of that ...
Yet the hostility is almost universal ?
No wonder 'Centrism' is collapsing.
Imagine starting a thread on Blair and then moaning about globalisation ....As you say, sad but true. Globalization and rising population levels are inexorably increasing the competition for resources and we are currently among the losers.
not too difficult really.Imagine starting a thread on Blair and then moaning about globalisation ....
