Pep was pretty busy, tbf.Shitty behaviour. Did you ask to speak to the manager?
A history of Alky, what about the wood side though, Mike Harding.Kiddo used to live on Kirkway, near to where it meets Kingsway.
As you already mentioned,Nedum was on Main way, not far from Bernard Manning's house.
At the top of Mainway ,just as you turned right onto Hardfield Road was the bungalow where Colin Crompton (Wheel tappers and Shunters social club) lived in the 70s.
A few more bungalows down Hardfield Road was the residence of Frank "Foo Foo" Lamarr.
His back garden was adjacent to my mum and dad's back garden. He wasn't seen very often as he was at his club in town until the early hours of the morning and then slept during the day.
And lastly, a further couple of bungalows down, lived John McGrath, who was manager of Preston North End during the 90s.
He was also a childhood friend of my Uncle Derek, and I was introduced to him when he was playing for Newcastle at Maine Road, when I was about 11/12 years old.
It was more a guided tour of Alky in my opinion.A history of Alki, what about the wood side though, Mike Harding.
He lived on the corner of Woodlands Way/Manchester New Rd.It was more a guided tour of Alky in my opinion.
As regards "The Rochdale Cowboy" ,I only know that he lived in Kathkin Avenue,Higher Crumpsall in the 1970s.
He was a customer on my Dad's milk round back in those days, and I helped Dad every weekend and school holidays from 1966- 73 , so I met Mike many times and he was a great guy to chat with.
Never knew that about Mike.He lived on the corner of Woodlands Way/Manchester New Rd.
Enjoyed the tour though, some friends of mine live on Mainway.
Why didn’t you just turn it back over ffs ♂So after having to return to Manchester from France for a few days due to a death in the family I was thinking I could watch the match in the pub.
The closest to us was the Lancashire Fold in Alkrington so we set off early so we'd get a table as there were 8 of us. We were there at 1.30 pm, we had food, and multiple drinks in the area the staff told us was for the City match, sometime later a sign was put up saying we were in the right place.
We watched the match with other City fans, then started to watch the farewell for Bernardo, Johnny Stones and Pep.
When it got to Peps farewell the bar staff turned the TV over to arsenal's trophy lift. When we shouted over in complaint the bar staff laughed at us. It's not like anyone was really watching the other TVs showing arsenal.
At least four of us were asking for it back on.
This isn't what I would expect from a what I have always been told was a pub that catered for City fans.
Half a million pound houses dont necessarily make you minted, they quite often mean you've got a massive mortgage..Never knew that about Mike.
They must be absolutely minted if they live on Mainway.
I would imagine the cheapest house is above half a million quid.
Spent 18 months up there and genuinely reckon there’s more blues. I expected it to be full of Rags but it just wasn’t. Obviously a fair number but I saw lots more City shirts and spoke to far more blues in local pubs, including the Fold.Bit cuty that, but it is Rochdale tbf, rags aplenty round there
And that massive mortgage means that you must be minted in order to be able to repay your mortgage.Half a million pound houses dont necessarily make you minted, they quite often mean you've got a massive mortgage..
You can get 5 x mortgage on 5% deposits so with a 25k deposit and a joint income of 95k you can buy a 500k house, 2 people on minimum wage would pay about 60k. And 2 people on the average salary would pay 80k. They'll be people with 500k houses who are struggling to make ends meat. And that massive mortgage means that you must be minted in order to be able to repay your mortgage.
Banks/building societies don't loan large sums of money to people who they think maybe a credit risk and could possibly default on their repayments.
So as I said, people who are minted.
If you're definition of minted is people potentially on less than 20% above average salary then yes they all minted. In reality many people in 500k houses will be struggling to get out of their overdrafts. So as I said, people who are minted.
When I lived on Alkrington( 46 years ago admittedly) most of the people on Mainway were people who owned their own businesses. A couple of scrap metal dealers come to mind, along with people in showbiz and professionals like solicitors, doctors etc.
And plenty of expensive cars, Rollers, Jensen Interceptor, Jags and Mercs were on every other driveway.
Oh come on !! There must have been one Reliant Robin Three Wheeler. So as I said, people who are minted.

It’s all drug lords, door staff owners and NedumNever knew that about Mike.

Apart from anything else, it’s good for business to keep as many different groups of supporters happy.utterly ridiculous to hear that behaviour. If you ran or worked in a pub you’d let people watch their team whatever the sport or occasion just out of courtesy & human friendliness. as long as everyone is being polite and not gloating its all fine.
if there was a random arsenal fan for example in a pub full of city and united you’d have one tv showing the united game, one the city, and if possible let the lone arsenal fan watch his clubs celebration. just fucking petty hatred everywhere these days, nasty.
They kept them happy for 2.5hrs by showing the gameApart from anything else, it’s good for business to keep as many different groups of supporters happy.
Such a weird road, Mainway. Some normal looking semi’s then there are a few houses that genuinely wouldn’t look out of place facing the sea in Sandbanks. It’s all drug lords, door staff owners and Nedum
