47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

How on earth was that offside?

Brilliant finish
Howie sez his arse was nearer the goal line when the ball was played and he didn't receive the ball directly from a throw in, corner or goal kick, and despite the Villa open topped bus being parked in their area he didn't have two players between his arse (?) 'n the goal line. Right? No? Oh, go on then, he was wearing one of those new City shirts and it was a late equaliser. The LotG are sacrosanct. They have to upheld through thick 'n thin. And the graphic shown on the big screen last night was delivered by someone who would appear to be pretty thick!

Next season is massive for him. We showed faith in giving him a contract but he needs to deliver. If not, that'll be 3 season in a row where he's been well under par in terms of his capabilities. I think it'll be time for everyone to realise there is going to be no resurgence if that was to happen.

I reckon he's going to do well. Summer off, fresh start with a new manager.

Hopefully the new manager shows faith in him as a starter. I don't think Phil is a naturally confident player. I think he needs a manager to put the belief into him by selecting him. I don't think he's the kind of lad that's going to get fired up and morivated at the prospect of proving them wrong.

He’s inevitable, he’s too good. Gets a new contract gets a MOTM performance with two assists, doesn’t get picked for England scores a wonderful and wrongly ruled out equaliser against Villa. That’s just his last two starts and in and around that he’s had great cameos off the bench.

We need to mould the side around him, he’s too talented not to. A midfield of Foden, Anderson and Rodri wins it all.

In Fodens case, I think his dip in form has nothing to do with any of the red clubs. He'll come good again and quite possibly not going to te World Cup may be a blessing in disguise.

I think not being chosen for the WC squad does. Same goals and assists as Saka in less starts. Miles better stats than Madueke

Maybe but I think Tuchel does his own choosing.
I thought Maguire would have been a definite name on the panel

TUchel did not pick Maguire because with him in the team, the team needs to defend really ,really deep.
He can head it out all day long, but he cannot defend on the half way line.
He will limit United next season, thankfully.
If he gets a game
On Foden, someone needs to convince him that he is special, not take the easy decision, turn , attack the box, attempt the difficult pass, Elevate his confidence.

To be fair to slabhead Dan Burn got picked ahead of him

Stones' departure now makes Phil the longest serving first team player at the club. So, he's not a kid anymore. Add in Bernardo's exit, and it's a huge hole we have to fill.

He can't be coddled. He can't be babied. The youngsters coming through, they're now looking up to him. They're observing everything he does, how he trains, how he conducts himself.

He will need to assume more leadership responsibilities, despite it seemingly being out of his comfort zone. We need him to. I think if he does, it could be the key to a major turn around for him, and the blooming of the second stage of his career.
He played well in his last three games. I think Phil will be fine next season.

Yes he played well although his decision making was conservative at times. Is that a confidence issue ?
With a good fishing break, some rest and a good pre season I think he will answer the the media and pundit critics.
He still managed more goals, and more assists from open play in all competitions than the bestest player in the whole wide world Bruno Fernandez.
