9 | Erling Haaland - 2025/26

Such a hard player to judge.

Scores shedloads of goals, offers little from general play and his movement within the box is incredibly limited.

Wins the golden boot all the time, without ever really outperforming his Xg suggesting it's actually the sheer amount of chances we create that lead to the number of goals. But then we're constantly discussing his "lack of service" when he has far more chances put on a plate for him than anyone else. He's not really a big scorer of solo goals but he does pretty unerringly put away what's made for him.

In a way we'll never know if another striker would score as many goals in this system because Erling is the one there doing it right now. A hard comparison to draw.

He’d score more if we played counter attacking where he has space to run into, he’s so limited in the area, never runs to the near post, rarely gets his foot across for a ball across the 6 yard box. You can’t question his goal tally, I still think Kane wouldve done better numbers under our system.

Yeah Kane regularly outperforms his xg by an insane amount. Scores the chances he should score and a load more he has no right to. Just lethal anywhere in the final third.

Should get the Ballon D'Or.

It's an interesting point about the counter attacking too, because as much as it may suit haalands finishing style is it going to help the wingers quality of delivery if they're at top speed or the chance of threading eye of a needle passes through midfield?

I do think we've set up to compress teams and square it to haaland in the middle of the box for a reason.

His goals per game ratio was the same at his previous clubs and even better for Norway

So it's clearly down to his brilliance

People say Kane would score more at city than he did at spurs but that's not necessarily true. You could argue Haaland would score more at Bayern than Kane. We'll never know.

Would Kane score the same amount as Haaland did at Dortmund, who are a lesser team than Bayern? Maybe not.

We know Kane is in a national team that's deemed better than Norway but hasn't got the same rate of scoring at international level.

Need to get some absolute banger signings this summer to keep Erling happy and show him we are going to win the league! He`s our most known player and we need to amke sure he is happy.

He needs to be shown that his place in starting elevens is not automatic. Perhaps that would jolt him to performing consistently. He is one player that can go from 100% to 20% in a very short space of time. Just imagine if he’s on the bench two games on a row and Semenyo is playing nine, I think that would help him to be more determined to win.

Interesting take, shit but interesting imo, and not !00% sure a City manager will share or adopt the approach outlined in your post.

But who knows ?

Branched out into the sunglasses game has Erling. Some are quite smart.

I watch Haaland in some games and realise he's not doing enough. For a guy his size he's too soft and when certain defenders rough him up a bit he goes hiding and doesn't want to know. Aguero never allowed himself to be bullied and he was only five foot eight but hard as nails! I think Erling has it too cushy knowing his place is safe and rarely gets subbed even when he's having a stinker.

I want to see become a battering ram like Duncan Ferguson was, blowing hard and sweating, fighting for every ball next season.

191 goals + assists in 198 games.

I assume you're on a fishing expedition. You reeled me in.

I said same before after watching Bunny in the womens final today. She's excellent at receiving a long ball from goaly, uses her height and physicality. He could learn by watching her. He really is a conundrum.

Nonsense we created way more chances for aguero and he never got close to the amount of goals haaland scores every season.
