Just to counter the mistaken bias argument 2 of their community have been sentenced to 11 and 12 years in prison over a fatal accident when they were speeding at 139mph and inhaling laughing gas on Kingsway. The defence Barrister told the court that one of the accused was about to start an apprenticeship with Network Rail. Hope it wasn't as a driver.
How do you mean “mistaken bias argument”

I've no interest in your "my party's the best" dogma.
All political parties in this country are a waste of fucking space. Nothing will change, only the name of the ruling government
what? Its obvious you slept through austerity-or assume it made no difference. I lived through the consequences of austerity in the police as well.

I'm merely pointing out the outrage that the right provoke over everything-irrespective of how true it is.

This is down to the jury. Juries sometimes return perverse or illogical verdicts or, as in this case, fail to agree. It's how the system works, and we are not even allowed to understand the process, as what goes on in a jury room is secret by law, and it's an offence to reveal it. We can only speculate, and our conclusions may be wrong.

You can, of course, abolish jury trials and have the judge decide, but that idea was not popular when the government proposed it for some trials a few weeks back.

People need to decide what the fuck they want. Juries can be irrational. Judges can be arbitrary and even prejudiced. Choose your poison.

There are more to trials than what's currently in the public domain.

By your logic, City should be found guilty because of the 6 emails that point to wrong doing.
Emails can be doctored, now if you had video of a person typing and sending those emails I’d say they’d he guilty as hell. Have you even seen the video? Tell me he was doing that in self defence and I’ve got some magic beans you can buy.

Im a 56 year old bloke
I've had the opportunity to vote Tory on 9 occasions in GEs and countless local council elections. I've NEVER put a cross against a Tory candidate, yet I can see that austerity was a blunt (but sometimes necessary) tool to get the country back on an even keel. Plus, the backlog of trials wasn't helped by Covid.
Let me make this clear, I've no time for the Tories.
You seem to have a permanent hard on for anything left of centre ground. Fair enough. Just leave it to the politics echo chamber.

I don't agree with the verdict but we weren't party to everything and beyond all reasonable doubt means just that-for people to think its some great conspiracy or woke judges, or biased jury members or Starmer is all just hand wringing noise. The CPS decided to drop it after 2 goes.

Sorry,my bad. I didn't realise that it is quite a common Pakistani name. It must have been a lawyer with the same name as I K the ex Pakistan prime minister.
Apologies from me once again.
no worries, that would have been a bigger legal shocker!

Thats fine-but austerity was not needed when interest rates were zero-Cameron/Osborn caused so much damage to this country-socialism for the banks, austerity for the rest of us-and we have never recovered-in fact you can join the dots from that to Brexit to the rise of the right..but perhaps a tenous link to this story-or perhaps more evidence of how the rent a gobs on the right use it to stoke up more hate and division.

I've never seen myself as left of centre-perhaps I am. But I def did witness the destruction caused to the police by austerity and then Johnson's Uplift disaster.

David Blunkett, Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli, Tom Sullivan and Chris McCausland.
You seem to overlook the fact that the Prosecution can challenge the composition of a jury and doubtless would have been very aware of this potential issue

CPS must have thought twice that they have enough for a conviction.
The second attempt would have been after a thorough review of the evidence after the first attempt.
