To this I would say - that's true. But then, if someone perceives you as something, is claiming it's just a role or job sufficient to deter that?
Like Brad Pitt can realistically seperate himself from Tyler Durden. Leonardo Di Caprio can distance himself from Jack Dawson. I'd suggest the line between those guys - the demarcation point - is much less grey than Brent Di Cesare and Mark Goldbridge. And I'd also argue that most people aren't perceptive enough to see that more grey area and believe that is the real him.
Hence, whether he's playing the role or not - the end point is he's still a laughing stock with no dignity, for selling out like that.
