2026 Community Shield | Millennium Stadium | Sun 16th Aug, 3pm

Just looked, around 3-1/2 hours and 10 stops from Manchester, sounds a grueller and as somebody else said last train back 20.10.

It's fucking horrendous driving back as well. Took us 8 hours to get home from there

In case anyone gets confused, the match is at the Principality Stadium as the Millennium Stadium name was changed over ten years ago.

Ive never been to Cardiff
I drive for each Wembley visit using the same guys driveway.
Any advice which side of the stadium is best to choose for getting away from the stadium heading back to sunny Manchester??
If you want a quick getaway the best option would be around sofia gardens/ cathedral road area 15 min walk to the stadium and after the game head straight up cathedral rd onto eastern avenue which joins onto the M4 avoiding the city centre

In terms of allocation:

We got 42.5% of the capacity at Leicester a few years ago, however we usually only get 35% of the capacity.

Using these as an Upper and Lower bound we can say the allocation will be between: 25,900 - 31,450

28,000 would be a safe bet. Anyone who wants one will get one, and I'd say it's unlikely we sell the lot

Should have it at the swamp. I'd love to see the turnout from a London based side when the roles are reversed and the game is in our backyard. I guarantee you wouldn't hear the end of the "troubles" they'd have travelling to it.

Having it in Cardiff doesn't change much for us, still nearly as long of a journey, different ground makes it at least semi-appealing as opposed to wembley though and at least the tarquins will be forced to travel too. Watch them all kick up a stink about it not being at wembley.

In case of use for rail arrangements, this is the info for a Metallica gig at the same venue in June this year:

For a concert at Principality Stadium, special crowd-management measures will be in place at Cardiff Central railway station after the show….

The key arrangements announced so far are:
  • A post-event queuing system will operate at Cardiff Central to control passenger numbers safely. (Transport for Wales)
  • Queuing is expected to begin from around 10pm after the concert. (cardiffnewsroom.co.uk)
  • Mainline rail passengers (for destinations outside the Valleys network) will queue on Central Square outside the station. (cardiffnewsroom.co.uk)
  • Valleys line passengers will use queues at the rear of the station. (cardiffnewsroom.co.uk)
  • There will also be dedicated accessible routes for passengers needing assistance, with staff and stewards available to help. (Transport for Wales)
  • Transport for Wales says passenger numbers may be restricted for return journeys, so travellers should expect waits and allow extra time. (Transport for Wales)
  • Additional and strengthened train services are usually planned for major stadium concerts, but passengers are advised to check their last train home in advance. (cardiffnewsroom.co.uk)
You can check the latest official rail-event updates on Transport for Wales event travel page and the venue guidance on Principality Stadium Getting Here page.
