Media discussion - 2025/26

The TNT coverage today has been an absolute disgrace. I don't have a problem in principle with a British broadcaster favouring a British team despite the fact that is a bias that is never ever extended to us. However today's coverage has been ludicrous from two perspectives.

Firstly they were completely disrespectful to the winners in terms of the level of coverage and analysis which was almost exclusively focused on the losers. More importantly they completely failed to provide an accurate rendering of what actually happened in the game. Arsenal were incredibly limited and stank the place out but it was presented as a tactical masterclass that they were unlucky to pull off. You could tolerate that from a club channel but this is supposed to be professional commentary and analysis, instead it was basically gaslighting.
Totally agree, the way the Tarquins played was the mentality of a league 1 team against a decent premier league club in a domestic cup. They got lucky with the goal and then tried to hang on. PSG were pretty much there for the taking yesterday with all their big players misfiring. The media coverage lovingly portrayed them as a plucky under dog fighting a footballing giant rather than a billion dollar club stifling the life out of the beautiful game with their low block and rigid defending.

The media should be all over their failings because to be fair, Arsenal missed a huge opportunity without really having a real go at it.

My dislike of Delaney grows by the day. in his analysis of the the final he comes up with 'The English champions could not become the European champions, as a Qatari sportswashing project rules the continent again.' Nowhere does he mention the fact thar Arsenal have outspent PSG over the last 5 years by judiciously re-building their squad whereas Arsenal have pissed their money away by buying bang average workmen players. Not one for violence but would like to give him one in his smug face
Breath it in mate..they are all hurting this morning.

The fact they play that way and are scared to go punch for punch proves they themselves don't really believe they're an elite team or a potential dynasty making team.

Can you imagine Pep's City or Barca teams being that fearful of PSG? There's a difference between respecting the tools the opponent has to hurt you, and outright fearing them. Arsenal were the latter for much of that game last night.

Arsenal will not get away with their cheating next season. Pretending to be injured, wasting time from the first few minutes, fouling at corners. The media coverage is ridiculous. They will struggle next season.
Do you really think so? I suspect the refereeing will become even more conducive to their style.
At the start of the season PGMOL said they were going to clamp down on disorder at corners. When the league positions started to settle and it showed that disorder favouring the club most likely to challenge City, that policy was turned 180 degrees to almost encourage grappling.
It has become clear that it is vitally important to the PL roadmap for the game that we don’t win the league.
I would have scoffed at that suggestion just three years ago, but as they become more desperate they become more obvious.

I believe there will be so much pressure from other clubs, including the remaining cartel clubs, they will have to do something. This season has been all about”anyone but City.”
But anti-football is not good for broadcasters and sponsors. Arsenal are damaging the product.

Ian Herbert in the Mail trying to polish a turd and making out that Arsenal's tactics were a success yesterday.

Either their squad isnt nearly as good as they like to make out, and they arent capable of playing PSG on merits. Or the tactics were a miserable, gutless failure.

Wonder which one he would have gone for if it was us doing what Arsenal did.

Anyway, to change the subject to another favourite son of this thread, I see that on Wednesday, Slimy Stone was described as 'Chief football news writer' whereas yesterday he was just 'Manchester United reporter'.

Wish the BBC would make up their mind.

Wondering if next negative article he writes about little city hell be called chief city hater

He needs ignoring as much as possible. He is the author of a couple of books on 'sportswashing', so it is in his commercial interest to plough his distorted furrow.

They talk about Arsenal like they're a plucky underdog.
Since he took over they have spent more than £800m.

More than £800m to have 25 per cent possession in a final and play like Stoke under Pulis.

Honestly, they get such an easy ride from the media.
They have turned every corner into a grappling match yet scream when it's done to them!

And what did our journos say about West Ham's disallowed goal?
That it was the right decision because Raya was fouled.

It actually took Chapman and Neville to call out the hypocrisy given what they'd done, and got away with, all season.

The way their fans celebrated getting a corner last night was embarrassing. (I LOL when the ref blew for HT!!!!)
You've spent more than 3/4 of a £billion to play for set pieces!

Maybe that's why Fernandes got PoTY because he's allowed to actually show his talents.
Wouldn't it be great if the journos asked lego 'ead if he's holding his players back????

Won't hold my breath.
Also I bet their spending is a lot more than PSG these days.
legohead, the only person to blame for the loss with his negative tactics knowing PSG are not the best defensively, moaning about the non penalty, a correct call, but ignoring the fact Saka touched the ball with his hands in the box more than he touched the ball with his feet throughout the match, and they got away with a stonewall penalty plus the non 2nd yellow for their defender.

Simply can’t see them retaining the title.
Unfortunately I can. They defend well and have pigmob in their pockets, plus money to burn due to illegal interest free shareholder loans tolerated by Masters to improve a side that’s been close for years, all complimented by a compliant media who say nothing about the cheating on and off the pitch. I hope I am wrong and you are right gdm

So do I!

Most people now understand there is no such thing as “sports washing” Soverign Wealth Funds invest money to make money. Every country in the world does it. Delaney sees the false PR narrative as a meal ticket. Soft power is a real thing of course.

Has delooney written a book about the one-party state and arse loving President of Rwanda that received aid from the UK then spent that on sleeve sponsorship with les arse?

What about the book on the absolute monarchy state that is known as a 'gangsters paradise' - Dubai? It is the go to place and well known sanctuary for notorious drug lords, sanctioned politicians and business leaders, money launderers and major crime syndicates?

No, I didn't think so.

Back in the day it was called public relations. There is not a nation on earth that doesn't sell a version of itself that shows it in the best light.

How can he dismiss PSG as a "Qatari sports washing project" when Arsenal's stadium and shirts have carried the name of an Emirati state airline for 20yrs, which has funded the creation of Arteta's cloggers at a cost of well over a billion pounds?

Not to mention Rwanda.......

'Middle Eastern people cannot be businessmen!' His hatred of us and PSG is just xenophobia at this point.
