82 | Rico Lewis - 2025/26

Loan him to Girona, hopefully he helps them regain promotion and has a good season - cash in then. We'd be lucky to get a pack of winegums and a curlywurly for him at the moment.

He isn’t getting game time simply because Nunes has been great. It would be a shame to lose him but if we can get a World Class right back it might be worth cashing in.

If Maresca comes, I would love Rico to get an opportunity.
At 21, I feel some are dismissing him too readily.
I do suspect he will be moved on though and I will be sad about that if it happens.
I always want our youngsters to do well and probably support them past the point of rational thought but I just cannot see how Rico can get serious minutes next season if we want to compete for the league.
He is too slow and weak to play as a conventional fullback. He is not as good as the likes of Cherki, Foden etc. on the edge of the opposition box.
Look at what O'Reilly brings to the team and there is no comparison. It's sad but if Rico stays he will be a fringe player and will not develop further.
Maybe if there are no takers for a transfer then a loan to Girona could be a good option.

Final day performance one of the worst I’ve seen from a city player in the last ten years. The laziness vs the counter was borderline unprofessional. Needs a move now to reignite the fire
Schocking in the second half, half arsed at best. Have no idea why Pep didn’t sub him off for Nunes

Nah I think the Rico at right back situation has been put to bed this season with him being so poor and easily targetted there. Nunes is obviously the number one right back but iwe can't have Rico playing for us at full back again.

I've stuck up for Rico and still would but the emergence of Nico OR with his versatility and him being proven to be incapable of playing right back is why he needs to move on. That and we need to be serious about the squad this summer

He might excel in a less physical league. Not sure he would want to completely up sticks on a whim. It's a shame the game changed around him.

It’s a good point, well made but my disappointment was around his lack of effort to get back when Villa countered. I know it was a dead rubber but I would have thought that he had something to prove but he just looked like he had given up

I remember watching Lewis as he'd just broken in to first team - when he captained the U18's in an FA Youth Cup game against Blackburn. You would have expected him to be head and shoulders above the rest of the team but looked very ordinary. Not good enough to be a first team regular - I'd be cashing in.

He was brilliant against Villa. Few moments that weren't good but he's also played fuck all football this season.

It just baffles me that people are so willing to offload him as if it's nothing. There is so much quality to his game.

I’d like to see him under Maresca just to see if it clicks with a different manager asking him to do different things but he’ll probably be off in the summer and do well for himself somewhere.

Imagine Rico plays RB in opposite team and he has to play against Doku...

What would be your expectation.

OK even not Doku, Semenyo or Savinho or Ait-Nouri...

New manager, new ideas?

If he stays and gets used differently he'll not be the first player in history to move from the sidelines to a pivotal player.

Can't see it happening mind you.

Think he'd be a good part-ex to Forest and would do well there at what will be a mid table team with a little less pressure on him.

Lewis, McAtee, Bobb. All wonderful products of the academy and technically excellent players. However, the domestic game in recent seasons has become ridiculously physical and they have fallen victims to that change. It might be that they don’t recapture their standing until they have matured physically.

Unfortunately, a bit like Foden for England, their technical brilliance is wasted when everyone around them is playing a quick and direct style of football. They want the ball to feet and to play the way they have throughout their footballing education and/or under Pep but that's not easily translated to sides that want to attack space quickly.

Foden has been the same in an England shirt. Gets into excellent areas but receives a shite pass from one of the many sub-standard players labelled world class by our media and then can't function.
