Match discussion (WFAC Final) - Brighton v City - Sunday 31 May KO 15:00

Well done to the Women's team today. Withstood that early Brighton pressure quite well despite us being off-form. There were only really a couple of instances of real threat that were eventually snuffed out by either Yamashita or Rose who along with Blinky I thought were the only players to stand tall in that first half hour. We then started to find ways through the Brighton press and start creating some chances of our own. A wonderful cross from Greenwood found Bunny at the back post who rose higher than a floundering keeper to get the scoring under way. Would put the keeper at fault for the 2nd as despite the free-kick from Greenwood heading to the side of the goal she was supposed to be protecting she left far too much space and was not quick enough to get down to get near saving it. 2-0 at the break was probably always going to be enough.

A fairly low-key start to the second half which improved with the substitutions around the hour mark with Fujino and a welcome return for Miedema added more impetus into our attack. And it was Viv who set her Dutch compatriot Casparij free on the right wing and the assist queen did what she's been doing all season with a pinpoint cross for Viv to head home. A final flourish with the 4th goal from Fujino after a lovely flowing move set the icing on the cake.

I think you'vee got the last two goals the wrong way round

Made the train home.
Good performance once we got the first goal and settled down. Thought we controlled the second half completely. LBB and Jade Rose were excellent, the subs showed the strength in depth of the squad.
Think Brighton tired a fair bit but they look a good squad, with a few extra players they could be difficult to play against next season again.
Fair play to their fans who all stayed for the presentation. Quite a few blues clapped Fran Kirby when she went off too, she is still a good player.
Well done to the team and Jeglertz, not bad going getting a double in your first season.

Doesn't seem to be any mention of this on the Daily Mail website
If you can bother to scroll through 39 links it appears then! Absolute joke of a paper there is some real crap about a losing north London team parade before that . Sums up the red shirt bias imagine if Utd won that double today.

I got to watch the second half after I finished work. From what I saw it was City who were the better side although from what I've heard Brighton started well and we took time to settle but once settled there was only one winner. (That was similar to the League Cup final, was it not?). Excellent goal for team goal for the third and fourth. A togetherness amongst the team, which shows a lot. Really pleased for Viv, she was missed towards the end of the season when she picked up a little injury and then of course her mother being very poorly. The team group hug after the goal, shows she thought of so much and the team knows it. Great result for our City women. COYB.

On train back North now .Really pleased with that result as we were outplayed for the first half hour ..Fourth trip to Wembley since March and four wins . It's great to be a blue. London absolutely throng with Tarquins as is this train ....
Yes my train is too and it was chaos around kings cross and Euston. Took forever to get out of kings cross tube station. They just opened all the gates in the end. I had better not get charged full whack.

Not at our best but nevertheless romped home with an impressive 4-0 victory against a decent BHA side.

A fantastic domestic double the result of an excellent season on and off the pitch.

Much to look forward to next season too, and hopefully build on this season with success in Europe.

The Clubs PR ( if we have one) should be doing something with the 3 FA cup wins this season. If Rags did it then BBC would be all over it, so down to us to highlight it
No doubt Stone will be penning an extended, headlining article on it for the bbc football website as we speak …

We met an eighty year old woman from Leeds at about 7 pm , who had been stranded at Kings X since 4.30 pm . Unable to get on any tube going across London . She looked done in so we shared some conversation and a cuppa ..and it was chaotic getting off the tube only the train station .

The poor soul, that sounds awful. I consider myself lucky now having heard that.

Made it to Manchester and bloody metrolink strikes with a tram that was due in 4 mins and suddenly disappears to 15 mins away. They really are the pits.

Was a decent advert for the womens game, the lack of shithousery is very welcome, and both managers and the ref did a good job. Etihad South :)
