How far off PSG and Bayern are City right now?

We went for every cup available and it is pretty draining to do that
Minor alteration - I doubt going forward we'll do that.
Going for all 4 just stretches the resources too thin - it's been shown even under Pep. The situation was made even worse with the cl restructure and additional games.
Cl clubs will revert to "shadow" teams for the league cup at some point

I personally think, if we hadn’t lost key players due to injury this season, we would have been in with a chance of the quadruple again. But now Bernado, Stones and Pep have gone, it might take 2-3 years to get back to where we are.

Them being in sub standard leagues is a big help to them
This cannot be over stated. It’s a huge advantage to win your league every year at a canter.

I don’t think we are miles off. Both PSG and Bayern failed to break arse down this season. In three games we beat them twice and drew away.

Our schedule and some poor periods did for us season plus some marginal officiating in their favor. I think we are still gonna have to step up a bit but not as much as you’d think.

Big factor is new manager and how much that affects us.

We have too many various shades of shit in the squad who wouldn’t get near PSG’s women’s team never mind their men’s.

Reijnders, Marmoush, Savinho, Gonzalez.

If you look at the players they’ve replaced - Kev, Alvarez, Mahrez, Gundogan. That’s a fucking ridiculous drop in quality. That takes you from leagues to runners up and gives you fuck all chance in the CL.
you have named four players who are never first choice as replacements for four - theee of whom were almost always first choice and the fourth (Alvarez) who wasn’t first choice but has significantly improved since he left us.
Hardly a fair comparison

Massive over reaction 2 or 3 signings keep the right players we aren’t far off at all.
We’ve just had 2 seasons which by our established standards were poor. 24/25 we went 13 games without a win, finished on 71 points, won fuck all and got absolute nowhere in the CL.

This season we’ve finished on 78 points, 7 points behind the worst title winners in years and failed to win a whopping 15 of our 38 league games and limped out of the CL with a whimper again. 2 cups is a big improvement but the statistics from the last 2 years are a world away from where this club has been and was for years. Remember the days of 100 and 98 points and regular attendance in the CL last 4?

We are fucking miles away from that. There’s no sane argument you can put forward that says I’m wrong.

If you think 2/3 additions is all we need to get back to our previous levels, I’m really interested to see who you say these 2/3 signings should be?

You’re missing the point.

Those 4 players wouldn’t have got anywhere near our previous squads. They’re shite.

Remember the days when we had two first teams?

I don't think we are that far personally. Rodri back to full fitness and Anderson alongside him and we can dominate the ball like we used to.

We have exciting wide players and the best striker which gives us a focal point too.

FFS mate this city team couldn’t beat Spurs, Forest or West Ham and got bummed by the lollipop men and plumbers of Bodo Glimt.

PSG would’ve laughed us to death.

I'm talking about how they played. They were shit, and I think we would've won. We certainly would've given them more of a game than that lot did.

I don’t think we’re that far off, but we need to have a more mobile midfield and we need to be far more ruthless in front of goal. Watching European games again and you see we spurn a worrying number of chances, and these are issues Maresca is going to have to address.
This for me.
However the more mobile midfield needs to be top class too.
We need more than the meat shield as a top scorer. Do we give Marmoush more time?
I would honestly love to see three signings in the middle. How achievable is that though ?

Arsenal showed incredible mental discipline for 65 minutes, but in the 10 thereafter PSG were able to run off their midfielders and get at the defence. They also have the pace to hurt teams on the flanks and through the middle. Bayern are stronger, physically, but increasingly reliant on Kane. I also think that Real Madrid and Barcelona can be almost as dangerous.

Barca adding Gordon will scare a lot of teams. I still miss that raw pace we had with Sane and to lesser extent Sterling on the wings.

After watching yesterdays final I'd say we aren't even off let alone far off, we won 2 domestic cup and came a close second to a no penalty or red card VAR driven arsenal.

I do wonder if City and Arsenal will start playing more squad players in the CL group stage next year to rotate the minutes a bit more.. Others such as Man U and Villa probably aren't strong enough to play weakened sides and still qualify.

The last two years now finishing 1st in the group stage meant absolutely nothing.
