Raheem Sterling arrested after drug driving crash

Odd lad.

I still think that he never loved football.

That Lyon miss coupled with him thinking he was worth KDB money was mad.

He had an amazing purple patch but he has some catologue of brain fart misses too. I still stand by thinking Sane was the one to keep and work on but we know he was tapped up. But history will hold Sane in higher regard with us blues.

He’s clearly a little lost and I hope he finds himself a happy life after football.

He scored over 20 goals for 3 years in a row. You can't reduce that to a "purple patch"

Over 130 goals in 7 seasons for us. He was very good.

I do think football is more of a job to him. I don't think he LOVED city like some players but that's OK. He always tried his best and delivered plenty.

Fucking idiot, another one with money coming out of his ears.

If you're going to do 'stuff' have a driver/get a taxi at the very least.

Surprised the media haven't got him in a City shirt, slipping up a bit there.

Yep bizarre when you have 20m+ in the bank but drink/drug drive.

He could hire a fella on the street for a few hundred quid for a day or get a simple taxi ride. No excuse really

I agree but maybe they think about risk the story being sold but if you’re buying gear, get a fucking uber.

7th all time club goalscorer. Decent purple patch that

To Sterling's credit he did a lot to fight against racism and media stereotyping footballers.

To now do something so mind blowingly idiotic as this only undermines all of that work and feeds the narrative, and lets down all the people who stood up for him 10 years ago.

People need to take a step back before crucifying him. The wording of the charge is critical "on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs". England and Wales has 17 fixed limit drug offences, that covers your cannabis, cocaine, MDMA etc. He has not been charged under that offence. Instead he has been charged with Section 4 of the RTA. That is often used for prescription drugs or if they could not get a blood sample.

The possession of class C is what would worry me. That can range from sleeping tablets to steroids!! Hope it is not nitrous oxide or something equally stupid.
Wasn't he at that before?

As a player Sterling always had good stats, I didn't think he was that technically gifted but hit great numbers of goals and assists over a period of years for City.
You had to put up with some incredible misses though, he would keep going and always get more chances.

The Lyon miss was one of the worst I've ever seen. He never scored against United or Liverpool either i don't think?

Easily forgotten because it was played behind closed doors during COVID, but he scored against Liverpool and celebrated as if a huge personal weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Had the crowd been there that night, I think he may have been regarded just a little differently.

The new video in the Daily Mail is pretty horrendous. If it is backed up by evidence about what he was actually doing in the car(looks like a balloon) then Raheem will be looking at jailtime. Very sad to see him in such a state

I don’t think we can really appreciate what it’s like for some of these people. They climb so far, so quickly, and then the acceleration of the descent appears uncontrollable. I don’t think he played, but I’m pretty sure Sterling was part of Maresca’s Chelsea squad that won the Club World Cup, which was only 10 months ago. He has very young children, too. Sad.

After seeing that video he deserves everything he gets.

A lot of revisionism goes on with Raz and our fans. Scored some very very important goals for us. Assisted Gundo in the Villa 3-2, was part of arguably our best front 3 in the clubs history. Lyon absolutely fucked him and he never got his head right.

What he's done here though is one of the most selfish things somebody can do. He deserves the book throwing at him, and anybody caught drink or drug driving deserve a mandatory custodial sentence. You are basically in control of a deadly weapon whilst not being in control of yourself.

Pull your fucking head out of your arse Raz.

I agree with all you say.

One thing I would add is that some people suffering from severe mental health conditions make some very poor decisions.

I am not condoning or excusing Sterling.

I remember getting heavily criticised on bluemoon for suggesting Yaya Toure should be sacked for drink driving, He was also in charge of a deadly weapon while under the influence.

Fucking idiot. Infuriating. Imagine you do everything right in life and some moron inhaling a balloon on the motorway causes you harm.
