The Album Review Club - Week #216 (page 1412) - Together Alone - Crowded House

I was going to honour him with an in-depth video a la BH85, turns out though that how to do chop-suey on a barbeque is not a thing so I got nothing.

Hope wherever he is that things are going a bit better for him.

No one heard from Bimbo either I assume?
Can you not A.I it?

Yea Bimbo hasn'tbeen seen in a few weeks, hope all ok, and this round has a few more notable absentees such as @FogBlueInSanFran, @Black&White&BlueMoon Town etc

I can't really judge these as BBQ songs due to my BBQ aversion but I'll give it a lash...

The Cash Brothers - a happy uncomplicated small to medium sized BBQ with family and close friends - I'd not too grudgingly go to this BBQ - Doogle

System of a Down - Do you get anything special or different at an Armenian BBQ? If so I might turn up otherwise there's others of theirs I prefer - Gornik

Lil Mama - Big danger that, if I've had a beer or two, I'd have a crack at the dance so that'll need to be a no - Belfry

The Beatles - HCTS is one of those songs I'd really like to dislike but I really can't - staple but I can listen to that I my own back garden anytime so is it tempting me out ? - Rob

Finlay Quayle - this is probably from a cooler BBQ than I would be invited to, if the sound drifted over the hedges and no-one was looking I'd have a little groove from my own patio - Journo

The Beloved - this is the kind of song that some people I know would do fake shape throwing to, this would annoy me and I would have to accidently trip and cover them in ketchup or probably whatever shit the fancy people serve up with their yak sweat rubbed ribs or whatever gets served. Time and place for this and it's not a BBQ - Threespires

Steph Strings - I like this but it's too energetic and it might encourage me to engage with people rather than happily staring at the lawn and chewing over if the cutting height was too high or low - Coatigan

Cosmic Rough Riders - Yeah, if this was playing I might bin my one burger and a bit of coleslaw and I can leg it approach and stay for a bit longer - It Started With A Miss

Van Halen - I would just worry too much that someone was going to catch the remnants of their once lustrous manes on the coals and that would spoil my enjoyment - OB1

The Scratch - I'd go but I'd leave before people started falling over and banging their heads on the hard landscaping because I don't see it as my job to sort out pissheads other than the ones I'm related to. - Coatigan

Able Tasmans - Based on the smarty pants band name and the fact they were on Flying Nun records I might get annoyed by the amount of effort people had gone to with their sunglasses. Would pop in for a bit. - Rob

The Moonglows - Suitably relaxing and the tempo is my kind of tempo for a BBQ but for some reason I'd have a nagging feeling that a fight was going to break out at some point. - Doogle

Not quite home from our Canadian trip, staying at a Premier Inn down south before heading up to Manchester tomorrow.

Haven’t had time to listen to the BBQ playlist but thanks to @Coatigan for running things.

Whilst in Toronto, I had to grab the above photo. @OB1 and a few others will probably get the significance:)

You lot bang on about them so much that even I know the album cover in question ;-)

One for @bennyboy surely?

Foggy is probably resting on a donut shaped cushion somewhere, and BMT is tootling around Ireland I believe
You are correct. Just got back last night and wow, what a fun 10 days with lots of great weather (I'm used to the heat) and sights and experiences. Have not had time to listen here, so sorry for that, but I did provide that disclaimer beforehand.

I can honestly state that anytime I saw a sign for BBQ in Ireland (and I did see at least two), I passed them up for a Guinness and fish and chips. Another highlight was catching the UCL final in a Dublin pub where a celebratory add-on pint was had with some locals there. That was nice!

Back just in time for the Stanley Cup Finals and the French Open final week, so the timing worked well there too.

I actually initially didn't recognize it with the full building in display there, and without those movers in red.

Good thing Rob provided the reference to help me focus it down to the ground floor only.

It’s a fantastic looking building and it makes you wonder why they didn’t use more of it.

I managed to convince everyone that we should include it on the itinerary and luckily it worked out nicely because my wife loved the park it is set in (Queen’s Park) and we saw quite a few of the black squirrels too.

What a country Canada is - Ottawa, Quebec City, Montreal, Niagara Falls and Toronto, wow! Toronto is an amazing city and will go joint top of my city recommendations chart alongside Seville.

Glad you enjoyed Ireland. Somewhere I’ve still never been.

Obviously that was the clue back when we were posting 10/10 records :)

Just been recovering (and am now recovered), moving and — next weekend — get to see my elder child graduate from college! Oh, and I have a golf tournament in there too. Also confirmed my first trip to the UK in 4 years for next spring. Retirement is fun; aging less so :)

Glad you’re on the mend - sounds like some fun times ahead. Enjoy your daughter’s graduation, that is a special day.

Round #14 starts later today. Here is the provisional list of dates, subject to change because there may be a special editor's choice soon.

@BlueHammer85 and @BimboBob have been absent from the forum for months, and I wish them well wherever they are. Whilst they are, of course, welcome to nominate on their return, I've left them off the list for now so that things aren't disrupted too much.

If anybody else is lurking and wants to get involved reviewing and join the list of nominators, now's the time to speak up.

Good to go on 10th.

Madness Robert, sort it out.

It just never seems as interesting as the other choices that we have. And although there's plenty of Ireland to go at, I just can't get the image of Dublin being a weekend piss-up destination out of my head and I'd hate that.

It's hard enough dealing with the hordes of loud-mouthed zero IQ lads and lasses at the airport as it is.

A poor excuse ;-) stay away from Temple Bar and there's more than enough for a great long weekend in Dublin sans the pissheads; then get yourself across to the west coast of Ireland too.

You will need to pack a cagoule though, which I note from your vids is not really your thing :-)
