From what I can gather much of the technology based around the valuation is, as yet, not even developed. I guess if you have £10000 spare (anything less is a waste of time because to make say, another £10k, the company then has to then be worth $3tn), don't mind lining the pockets of Musk and potentially having to wait years for a decent return then go for it. I won't be bothering as a single investment but I guess one of the funds I hold will buy in at some stage.Despite the thread title this tends to cover more general investment issues. So, just wondering what people's thoughts are about the proposed SpaceX share issue. Worth a punt? Likely to be an opportunity for quick or long term profit? Or would you not touch it with a bargepole because a) it will be a disaster and/or b) Elon Musk is a ****?
Fair comment and like you I suspect I'll have a stake through one of my funds sooner or later. If only all my funds were performing as well as the Legal & General Global Technology Index Trust. I'm up 292.72% on my investment. Unfortunately I'm balls deep in NIO and way way down. Just got to stick it out and hope that it at least returns to parity at some point over the next few years!
I suppose it depends how much, how deep and how long. I bought Palantir(I know) on a tip/punt 5 years ago and it did absolutely nothing till the last 18 months when it has gone up 500% over the whole period. I'm not at the moment - I've bought NIO various times over the past 5 or 6 years which has helped bring the average buying price down but I've got so much invested in it that I don't fancy buying any more. Are you still buying NIO whilst it's down? Because if not, even if it comes back over a period you're still not making anything on it.
