16 | Rodri 2025/26

Both him and Gvardiol are coming off long injuries. They could extend now, but a great WC & they are in a better position. Plus, they are focussed on the WC.
Bad WC, or reinjured, less money & interest.

They are backing themselves, that’s all

He wants the Madrid move but will be forced to stay I think.

Reading between the lines here but I think he’s found an agreement with Riquelme to join Madrid if he wins their presidential election, except Perez will win almost certainly win it again and he doesn’t want Rodri.

No way, have you spoken to him? If so can you say hello from Bluemoon

Still can keep him for one more season. Not much difference with Bernardo Silva and Barcelona. We even kept Eddie for an extra season.

Players rarely say they want to leave but he's pretty silent on the matter so maybe it has a ring of truth to it.

Yeah no way Madrid will pay the fee we ask for this summer, but I think him going in 2027 is like at 80/90 percent now. I'm alright with that, he'll be 31.

Also note that City’s denial of what Riquelme was saying only concerned Haaland, despite Riquelme mentioning Haaland AND Rodri. Rodri has already made his mind up. He’s joining Madrid. More likely next summer on a free than this window, but his decision is made imo.

Yeah. Starting to annoy me now. He keeps getting chances to clear the air and every time purposely leaves the door open.

Even if he’s not decided yet - which is fine and obvious - then at least try not to give the media ammo.
I think you are seeing this all wrong. He isn't trying to clear the air, he is trying to signal as professionally as he can that "Yes, i would like to go to Madrid."

Its just as fans we love him and don't want this to be the case.

Since he got injured, he has wanted out. Every interview has been a clear " We'll see the future"

The only question now is whether we:
1. Acquiesce and sell now ( my favorite option)
2. Pull a Bernado ( please stay and finish your Contract)
3. Q3 try to bribe him with as much money as possible and a 4 year deal (least favorite option).

I am very comfortably in group 1. I 5hink this is the year to let him go. He was here for his peak. He has maybe one injury free peak year left and perhaps 2 other injury hampered peak years... At best.

I think we need to let this happen and live with it.
