Scandalous, paid equivalent of £15 for a Reuben Sandwich and around £10 for a beer in Clearwater 4 years ago, bar owner said prices were increasing as they couldn’t get staff and it would get worse, looks like she was right.

In Dallas 2 years ago, a pint was about a tenner, then it’s expected you pay a 20% tip because the bar staff get paid fuck all.

There was no drinks breaks either!

I know people are skeptical of anything modern but they learned that more time was lost to players slowing down, more stoppages and onboarding water incidentally than would be lost by just having the drinks break. That was part of the reason they did it. Plus we didn’t have any of the knowledge of hyponatremia in the 90s that we do now.

Literally dozens of kids died in the US playing their summer egg-type football before they realised how big a problem it was and tightened up the regulations around hydration.

I get that people have nostalgia but I think sometimes they romanticise the wrong things. I have no problem with prioritising the health of players.

Bar staff have always been paid poorly in the States but they potentially earn a fortune in tips, they used to pay the IRS tax based on their sales but I think that’s changed now.

Perhaps @Mad Eyed Screamer could explain.
