Khaldoon's end of season interview | Pt 1 (p3) | Pt 2 (p12)

On what planet do these thick fuckers think Mansour and Khaldoon are scaling back? It’s a bad time to predict that now, if anything they are ramping up and haven’t even peaked yet. New stand fully opening this summer, NYCFC new stadium opening soon, new abba venue on the Etihad campus. That will be close to £2bn of investment there alone, probably more.

I would love to know what else is in the pipeline. Perhaps they will scale down investing in the next decade or two, but by that point we will be so far ahead of them they won’t be able to comprehend it.

Let them rattle on, and then in a few years they can reflect back that what they were talking was absolute shite.

But grubbily signs off dodgy accounts, approves off-book payments to employees, and disguises direct owner investment as sponsorship.

Yeah, sounds legit.

Myopic, biased and unrelated to factual reality, copium
I love united fans like this. City is a slow, painful death for them. 18 years since the takeover and the penny still hasn't dropped.

Frame this… this is precisely the problem so many people have. City are operating on a level that is beyond our detractors comprehension - long may it continue with them living in their squalid little world. One day reality might beckon and they’ll just invent another excuse for their inadequacies.

There was also mental fatigue coupled with the physical injuries. Once we did four in a row there was next to nothing left in the tank. I think that showed in the FA cup loss in ‘24. Players, coaching staff, Pep, all climbed one mountain too many and the drop off was inevitable. The injuries and an aging squad compounded the problem.
Yes, very true, the fatigue was very apparent in that cup final. I think a lot forget (especially the melts who complain we're not got enough every time a result doesn't go our way), that many of them regularly play upwards of 50 matches a season, including Euro travel, and that's not even including international matches. Some of our players must play double the number of matches that players from other clubs play.

I think, especially after watching part 2, that what virtually all journalists and rival fans (and even a few on here) don’t quite ‘get’ is that City aren’t run like any other football club in world football.
Football, naturally enough given the emotion it engenders in everyone, has always been run on the basis of “what will win us our next game/ what will get us through to the end of the season”. Our owners have never taken that view. From day one it has always been a seriously long term view, decades into the future.

Football, particularly English football, just did not recognise that level of forward thinking. This country had fallen into the trap, for many years, of believing that football was always going to be a fait accompli. One of United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and at a pinch Chelsea, were always going to win the biggest prizes. For sure there may occasionally be a bone thrown to the masses with a FA cup/league cup shock - it keeps them coming back - but ultimately the game was sewn up for the Sky four.
And as an industry, this was not just accepted, but celebrated. There just wasn’t the ability to imagine an outsider with the wherewithal to hijack this cosy little club. And when City came along not only was this NOT celebrated, it was dismissed. And then targeted. And they’ve been trying to destroy us ever since. Everyone involved in any capacity with the game in this country, fans, owners, media, journalists, everyone, simply did not and still does not, have the mental capacity to understand that City weren’t just trying to win a league or two, they are purposely disrupting the game.
This lack of understanding lead directly to the charges. From the PL, they are simply a case of “kill them. Literally kill this football club. We cannot allow the also rans to be given ideas above the station we have given them.”
From everyone else, lead by the hateful English media, it isnt jealousy, or embedded fans of United/other clubs, it is simple ignorance of what HHSM is building. They just don’t understand the concept of building a football club from the ground up with a view that stretches 30 or 40 years into the distance. Because that’s never been done in the modern game.
Clubs and fans have been conditioned to accept that if they’re not one of the “big four” ( remember that term?) then their role is to be grateful for the odd point at old Trafford/anfield, and back home on the coach you go. See you next year.
And like sufferers of Stockholm syndrome they have embraced it. So much so that instead of looking at City and thinking “we could do with owners like that” they look at City and think “we need to get rid of these, they’re ruining the game”. The game that gave them fuck all and patted them on the head every season as one of the originals hoovered up most of the trophies and almost all the money.

We won’t change their minds in my lifetime, it will take decades.
So instead we’ll get to watch them torture themselves in Plymouth, derby, Middlesbrough, Ipswich et al as we continue to grow. And fuck them. I despise the also rans more than I do “the big four”. Because I despise rank stupidity.

Oh, and anyone watching part two who still has ANY doubt that we have/are going to shortly, win the charges case, watch it again. Does anybody seriously think this man and the men he represents has had any need or desire to act in a grubby manner? It’s more simple than that. He’s been operating far beyond their level of knowledge for years now and because they cannot fathom how a club like city could grow so far and so fast they have fallen back on the old comfort blanket “they must have cheated”. Because the truth is even more terrifying for them. “They’re cleverer than we thought and they decided they weren’t going to settle for the odd crumb”

Fuck them all. I can’t wait for the announcement day.
Must be one of the most liked posts on here, and rightly so.

The charges per se never bothered me, because it's perfectly obvious to anybody with at least one working brain cell that no club is going to hand players 10 year contracts (has that ever been done before?), spend £300 million plus on increasing the capacity, build a hotel and all the other improvements and enhancements, all that we were doing perfectly well enough without, and still continue to spend hundreds of millions on players if we were about to take a massive hit; even if there was a slight possibility of it.

That's why I'm not bothered how long the verdict takes. If Masters and co had anything they would have shouted it from the rooftops. They thought they were just taking on little old City and never understood the size of the hole they had dug for themselves.

The verdict won't make any any difference to what other clubs' fans think, most have already decided we have cheated anyway, and if we're cleared on all 115 charges it won't change their minds. They've decided we have cheated despite not a single one if them understanding what the charges actually are (some have said they have been brought by FIFA, others by HMRC and most seem to think it's an actual legal trial).

The same morons will claim we've paid the PL off because they've already said so, being too brain dead to understand that (a), if we were going to do that it would have made far more sense to do so right at the beginning before we spent less millions on our legal team, and (b) that if we do pay them off then that makes the PL as corrupt as they think we are. You can't compete with that level of stupidity so why bother?

A lot of the time, building a good team is just down the pure chance.

Clubs can plan all they want, they can sit down with as many videos and analysts and spreadsheets and experts on the game as they want, target all the right players that they think tick off their requirements as they want, spend all they want, hope all they want. However, most of it is just down to nothing more than pure chance that the right players are available and are bought or come through an Academy at the right time to gel together, understanding and executing the manager’s tactics, to become a good team.

Hundreds of teams across football over the decades have done exactly the right things in the hope to build a great team with a manager with good tactics… they followed the recipe to the word, but the ingredients just didn’t quite make a nice cake.

Of course buying better players helps enormously. It’s very rare that non-elite players make an elite team… but it is also very common that a group of elite players do not make a great team.

I think we have certainly let our standards slide when it comes to signings, since around 2021. I think our treble and then fourth league title in a row came with much less depth in the squad compared to 2017-2022. Then, as that team has slowly fizzled out, we are left with a group of players of a lower standard now (bar the odd ones).

We barely bought a dud in Pep’s first half of his reign, but only really Gvardiol and Haaland have been absolute top class since.

But who’s been available, who wanted to come and who was affordable who are really elite players?

Kane, Rice, Bellingham, Wirtz have all been on our radar but we didn’t go for it with their prices… and, Kane aside, are they truly elite players? There’s a dearth of top quality in football at the moment. You could name numerous XIs last decade with numerous elite players in each position. But once you get past Kane, Haaland, Mbappe, Yamal, Hakimi and a couple of others now in world football, are there many truly elite players?

What current players in the sport would displace anyone from City’s 2017-2023, Liverpool’s 2018-2022 and Real Madrid’s 2015-2021 great sides?
Yet again, another who doesn't understand the toll that the sheer number of matches our players play in comparison to just about every other club takes - nobody else has not only won as many trophies but also reached the latter stages of most competitions virtually every season. 8 consecutive FA Cup semi finals is an example. We consistently play more matches than every other club in the league every single season.

We played TEN more matches than the rags in the domestic cups alone this season, and that takes its toll. That hit us last season with 13 first team squad injuries at one point with many more long term injuries this season, a very important and valid point that NOBODY who complains about the drop off over the past couple of seasons even bothers to mention or even consider at all.

And as you said yourself there's a dearth of real to class players at the moment so you can't just go out and buy a replacement de Bruyne, Kompany, Fernandino, Silva, Ageuro etc., they just dummy exist. That's not bad recruitment. In fact that we got the players for the price of one stuttering Wirtz suggests that's excellent recruitment, not bad. Who out of the players mentioned have won more than the players we did sign?
