I wonder if Blatter will hang around, like an unflushable turd.
Just to show the new bloke the ropes ;-)

Did they ask for their money back?
That's really interesting. Thanks for posting.Apparently the Aussies have asked for their money back.
The head of the Aussie FA shed some light on how the process works. He said that FIFA's guidelines for bidders state that the bidders must demonstrate their commitment to the international development of the game. They are advised to appoint consultants to facilitate this process. The Aussies' consultants advised them to make various payments, such as paying travel costs for U17 teams to attend a tournament, grants to develop playing facilities etc which all seemed to be perfectly legitimate. They were also advised to make contributions to various disaster relief funds, where the link to football was indirect. The Aussies did not query this process since it what was exactly the same as they'd encountered when bidding for the 2000 Olympics.
Finally they were asked to pay $4m for a training academy in the Caribbean. They baulked at this but agreed to pay $500k towards a feasibility study. The payment was made to Conacaf, the feasibility study never took place, the Aussies want their money back.
If they try to strip Russia and/or Qatar of the WC, they'll undoubtedly use the Aussie defence. All of the payments they made were legitimate, made in good faith. The corruption was on the part of the recipients. All of the other bidders were making similar payments because that's how FIFA's process worked.
Presumably that's how the South African $10m to Warner for the imaginary African Diaspora Legacy fund was also put in place. I suspect we only got one vote for our 2018 bid because we wanted proof that any grants/bungs they wanted from us would actually be spent on real development projects.Apparently the Aussies have asked for their money back.

Once the USA legal system mangles through this I think ultimately, corruption will be proven to be so deep seated that the legal entity FIFA will be prohibited imo. Personally, I think this would be preferable to simply shuffling the deck chairs and continuing. World football governance needs to be redesigned top to bottom and a far more accountable structure put in place with proper checks and controls. It is obvious that the problems are wider than FIFA and from the charges made so far implicate some of the regional associations as well. How the transition from old to new and the implications for next world cup play out is too hard for my small brain at this time of the morning but sure fellow blues will have clearer ideas....
He's stopping as vice president though. Suppose in that position he can pass the buck up.

Personally I was embarrassed by the reaction of the FAI and the majority of fans at the time and am a little embarrassed about this even if every penny went to the FAI it all seems a little grubby. That being said this is Ireland so Delaney will probably be seen as being 'cute' and so fair play to him getting the money by a lot but this being Ireland he could well lose his job,he is on a huge salary and every few months he seems to put his foot in his mouth over something. How's the overall reaction in Ireland? Surely this means they people in charge have to quit now.

Germany now accused of been corrupt for the 2006 world cup.
I think eventually it will be revealed everyone in football is corrupt, including the "so called fair" English, allegedly. So maybe everyone should stop moaning and accept the game is rotten to the core when you lift the rug, wouldn't be shocked if some top players take drugs that is covered up !
