Not that it means much but Firmino today has been added to the "former players" section of the main TSG fans forum by it's moderators. Of course it means little as everyone knows he's leaving anyway.

FWIW a few of the folks on the forum believe it's United, City or Arsenal.

Nothing to see here.

Why is the identity of the club he's agreed a deal with such a secret? Are we looking for a mass unveiling for maximum impact?

Why do you think we built that shiny new stand, he's going to have that many they'll fill the third tier
Normally if United sign a player, especially if it can be spun that they've beaten us to his signature, you can't shut the fuckers up, but this guy has agreed a deal to come to England and it looks like they've been told to keep the identity of the club quiet. Very odd.

Don't think it is odd. I just think it means its not United.

I agree it is?
But just supposing it's Liverpool that have bought him. They may not want it released for a couple of reasons.
  1. It would announce to City that they have bought a replacement for Sterling therefore we lower the price as we know they want to sell.
  2. It lets the Liverpool fans know that they have been planning to sell him all along and all the media scapegoating and the grandstanding was just all bullshit.

Maybe we have told them to keep it quiet as their is a menacing Scotsman loitering at the airport waiting to pounce

Or Liverpool, neither club can resist blowing their own trumpet.

Yeah I think he is ours. City playing their cards close to the vest is not strange. I expect we want to nail down all (or most) of our business before letting anything out. Simply no good reason to announce this now.

1. You don't think City will know the identity of the club he's signing for?
2. Are there any Liverpool fans out there who still believe Sterling isn't going this summer?

I suppose I'm thinking that if we've been in for him and we've been speaking to his agent then he'd inform us of his clients decision as a courtesy?
I should imagine that is the last thing they would do.
They may well cut off negotiations with City but they are hardly going to tell them who he is negotiating with. NCDs and the like would presumably be in place
