Can anybody really be staggered if someone thinks the corners could be better, and yet not be staggered if someone things Dzeko's crap, whilst another fan thinks he's great?

I don't think I've seen a single poster say they are unimpressed with things (as a whole) they've merely commented on aspects of the build. It's no worse than people walking around a brand new Ferrari and someone saying they aren't keen on the alloys, or don't like the headlights - which is fair comment isn't it?

I think people are being too sensitive. Not everything City do is perfect, and not everything in a design is perfect - because there are financial and technical constraints that get in the way. There's no harm in discussing those issues and learning why things are the way they are (from people who've got some technical insight on the design decisions).

Good points mate. I'm neither a happy clapper or a doom merchant; it's an internet forum containing thoughts, opinions (and sometimes, garbage) from a myriad of users. Not everyone is going to understand the intricacies of the design brief or the limitations placed on the build. Not everyone agrees on the team selections or the summer signings...that's life!

I think we all agree that, a) Silva > Jamie Pollock and Aguero > Lee Badbuy, that new Etihad > old Etihad (let's not mention Etihad vs Maine Rd!) and that expectations are mass... er, much much higher than they have ever been. That's no bad thing, and people should expect great things, particularly as the people employed at the club are at the top end of their respective professions.

  1. We should expect to see moments of genius from Silva and Yaya
  2. We should expect to see worldies scored by Aguero
  3. We should expect the chips to remain in full supply...even against the geordies
  4. We should expect to be fighting for the premier league title every season and regularly appearing in cup finals
  5. We should expect the Etihad Campus to be a world class facility
However...
  1. Silva and Yaya are human; they get tired, lose form and have the odd shocker.
  2. Aguero is not a machine. Damn close though!
  3. This is just not acceptable under any circumstances...
  4. We're going to have the odd "poor" season.
  5. This will happen - and is happening - but it will take time and lots of money.

So enjoy the whingers, the moaners and even the happy clappers....coz life (and this thread) would be pretty boring without 'em!

Your terminology is better than mine on this occasion. It was the slats I was referring to.
 
If I've understood this correctly then a reasonable proportion of those on the waiting list have not taken up their option to secure a season ticket and the perceived reason for this is because they are not at the £299 price they were expecting. The reason that the £299 tickets are not available is because they have been taken by existing season ticket holders transferring from other higher cost areas - presumably to save money.
So there are a large number of existing season card holders who are unhappy with the cost of their present ticket - hence the transfers. There are a large number of potentially new season card holders who are also not prepared to pay the higher price for a ticket.

Doesn't this just clearly illustrate that there is a price limit on what many are able or prepared to pay, and the club may have already reached it?

I'm afraid this is total bollocks

Most of the ST holders have stayed where they are..that's based on me asking a lot of my mates and their mates..all bar one had stayed..so I reckon quite a few waiting listers got cheap tickets

Also..I pay £65 a month to see the very highest level of football in the UK..with world superstars

Let me reiterate..£65 a month

You probably pay more for sky

£65 is an average price for one decent music gig..or one average night out on the town..and I bet you go out more than once a month

City is not a fucking charity..it's a business..and compared to a lot of clubs who's fans don't watch as entertaining football we are paying fucking peanuts..at any of our price points

Good post. We don't need sales gimmicks.

If we are to sell another 6,000 tickets by expanding the North Stand then we need to continue to play exciting football, compete for trophies and add one or two more star players, whilst continuing to develop youth players.

For the further expansion to work the biggest challenge will be selling the extra Premium seats. If we can shift those and say 2,500 £299 season cards in a North Stand third tier then that should be enough to go ahead. We can fill a couple if thousand more seats as our support continues to grow!

the CFA and stadium espeically are marvels imo. The CFA is the best training facility in world football, plus we have helped build things for local community use. Are we really bothered what cladding they use on a functional buidling, especially when that can be replaced at any point? Just get the bloody thing open and working!!

The stadium expansion even more amazing when Alistair Mackintosh, our chief exec when we moved, categorically said that because of the stadium design and roof the stadium CANNOT even be expanded. It was built for 48k and no more. Obviously he didn't think at the time we'd have £80M to throw at the best engineering has to offer. Of course there will be comprimises, but it's an effing £6k plus tier, not a few seats thrown in!! I'm amazed they've been able to do it at all, who cares if the roof is bleeding "smooth" or not.

I know people will come back and say it is a forum and just sharing opinions, no problems with that, but if you feel underwhelmed by anything that has happened over last 7 years (apart from a few our our signings!) I think you really need a reality check.

Calm down, Calm down......... I was merely picking up on some of the comments on previous pages questioning where the waiting list had gone to and why some many had not taken up the option to buy.
I happen to think it is getting very expensive, yes we are watching better football but my income doesn't increase because I'm watching better football. Me and my mates all stayed where we are (which is where we were the day we played TNS) - but thats partly because there is too many to all relocate.

I don't think £800 a year is peanuts personally - especially as it was only £600 a couple of years ago.

Oh and I don't pay for Sky

You chose not to move so you can't really moan can you..you could have moved to where I am and paid £600 for a gold ST like you used to pay but you didn't

Regardless even where you are at £20 a week still represents good value considering the ridiculous amount of money the Sheikh has thrown at our club and the players on display

We are not in Kansas anymore

I don't think anyone disputes the generosity of the Sheikh or the quality of the football we have watched in the last few years, but I don't believe that we have the affluent fan base of some teams or the endless supply of tourists some others to fill the stadium regardless of the admission price.

Regardless of loyalty, every will have a price point - that's simple economics not fantasy.

I'm a lowly civil servant with two young boys..affluent is not a word I would ever associate with myself yet I still find our prices reasonable and they compare favourably to less successful teams in the division

The cost of living rises in all aspects of our lives..so why do you think going to a football match should be any different?

You may argue that they should lower prices because of TV money being ploughed in and we are rich

But you never see McDonalds lowering the price of a burger or Coca Cola lowering the price of a can do you?

I'm not saying it's right..it's just reality

football is completely different from the things you mentioned, it has been proven with the extra tv revenue that the clubs could reduce tickets to 20 quid each, and still make money. I mean one player at 2 m would probably cover it. Football should be for everyone to attend not just the ones that can afford it, keep pricing out people, we will end up with empty seats or no locals. we have a working class fan base. What happens if it keeps rising ? will you still be happy or accept it by saying things like its only 44 quid a month...... 600 quid is a lot of money especially for families.

your argument is basically because other places increase prices we should ? why should we. its not the reality at all. we could if we wanted to lower the prices.

but of course its always more than just the S/T price - I know I spend about £30 every game on Travel/Programme/Beer/Food etc so it's reach about £80 a game for me on my own

McDonald's is a multi million pound business

Coca Cola is a multi million pound business

If they wanted they could charge 10p a can for all the working class people who want a burger or a drink and still make a profit

We all want to pay less..I'm not stupid..would love to save money on my season ticket..but I'm a realist at the end of the day..football is now big business and make no bones about it..the sheikh is here to make money

There will more than likely be a time in the not too distant future where I myself will be priced out..and when I am I'll seek somewhere else to sit..and if that gets too expensive then I'll no longer attend..like I said..it's not just football..it's the cost of living

You can either afford it or you can't

Very good point - without the alcohol I have sacked this lot years ago. Probably would now if I could properly remember the Stuart Pierce season!!
