Diego Godin

Our defence.

A horribly off form, mistake prone defender who's possibly facing a natural decline anyway

An inconsistent big money purchase who could go either way but shows promise and worries in equal measure

A kid who's never even played a PL game

A veteran who has one season left in him - yet is our best defender by some way imo

... if you don't want to sign the closest thing to the Messi of CBs I don't understand at all.

This!!! some people will still say he's too old when CB is hugely lacking with question marks on all of our defenders
my question though is, did we have to wait till now? is it mere coincidence that this piece of news seemed to leak today same day we got news that Pogba will get the number 10 shirt? all I see is signs of ill-prerparedness and it baffles me!

Why would we even entertain going for a cb? we are more than covered in that role. LB please

Not a priority, for me.

We've got 4 CBs, Godin simply pushes Denayer further down the order... an issue many on here have moaned about all summer. Not to mention it may take him a year to adapt also, menaing our £30million CB wont show his worth until the wrong side of 30.

Won't happen. Imo he is the best centre back in the world but he loves Atletico and Simeone too much and has a special connection with their fans. Anyway Atleti have already got rid of alderweireld and miranda so they don't need to sell.

According to the BBC Gossip page we triggered his release clause but he turned down the contract offer.

Take a look at @AS_Manolete's Tweet:

The translation from Bing is 'After Godin pumpkins, that Valencia ate males, since i see the City arriving with their money to take Otamendi'.

I love crap translations.

There does seem to be a fair amount of talk from the Spanish press about us going after CBs, and Martin Blackburn said we were looking but not a priority. There could be truth in Demi leaving early.

The thing i always think about when it comes to your CB's is under a stricter regime(like jose for example) would kompany be a starter still? Would mangala? MDM has already voiced his desire to return to argentina while he can still play to a decent level, and denayer is promise nothing more so far.

I think a good established CB is a priority. That was the mistake when signing mangala imho, he showed good promise but wasn't the complete package of a CB that you guys needed first and foremost.

I realize the setup hasn't helped with defensive issues, but still...i'd jump at the chance to sign otamendi.

I don't think the Spanish press get how this works...if they're going to link a player with City then they need to claim it would be at least a £200,000-a-week contract

They forget the 'Obscene £100million package' as well. They have a lot to learn from Fleet Street.

They've left out the "City Orphan Children Hunting Ground" that all of the players are encouraged to use on the weekend.

Ah, the retreat that includes use of the patented virgin blood jacuzzi. The opulence is disgusting. Makes me sick

I think the sick comes from the bits of bubbly blood getting in your mouth.

Jokes aside, it is amazing how we have seemingly become the new "Evil Empire" around the world. People here have begun to think of us in the same way as Real—they are obsessed with either love or hatred toward City. We've really done nothing to deserve such disdain but the media perpetuate it in order to get more clicks from the jealous, ignorant masses.

Even this rumoured Godin interest (which may not even be true) is being used as a great big bashing stick.

Oh well, success breeds envy.

Think the last line sums it up best!
