President Trump

In the land of free to do what ever you want and journalists are being shot live on air, the idea that trump could be president is not far fetched.

It's a scary thought he could be carrying round the codes to reap nuclear war on the world. Least the summit meetings with Putin would be funny.

Only saving grace would be would the average American feel a millionaire tycoon would have their interests at heart?

I think the bigger issue is if his opposition is Clinton. I don't think the average American would vote for Trump, but I don't think they'd want a woman either, and especially Clinton.

Whatever his motives at the outset, anyone who thinks that Trump wouldn't ache for office if it became a genuine possibility, doesn't understand the dark lust for power that consumes men like him.

Perhaps we're watching a real life version of Brewster's Millions.

I'm with you. He's up in the ratings and his ego might get him there.

Trump is going through the motions but he's not really interested in being president. If anything he's proving what a bunch of morons the republicans are for supporting him.

And as for him being the front runner, it really doesn't matter until a vote is cast. Four years ago Herman Cain was leading in the polls and right now Ben Carson is second. But if you really think republican are actually going to vote for a black person you're kidding yourself. They're basically there so that the racists can say that they aren't racist. "Hey, I was going to vote for Ben Carson so I'm not racist" will serve as their proof for a few years. They said the same thing about Colin Powell until he endorsed Obama.

You're 100% right. There is no way he wants to spend four years of his life attending to matters of state. He wants to go on TV and call people morons, marry women who are too young for him and brag about his wealth. Hosting state dinners and sitting in on major policy meetings wouldn't be fun.

Surely he cant be president ... President Trump, ok I have Prime Minister Fart on the line for you. POTUS its a serious job for a career politician not a fucking reality tv show for a shamless self publicist . Anyway just my two cents as a Brit who finds the idea utterly repugnant .

scary mate...its like hiring katie hopkins as a babysitter

It's almost as scary to imagine Hillary Clinton in the White House, she has become a bit of a joke herself. All of the republicans seem to be trying to "out-Trump Trump" so they're not serious either. Bernie Sanders is serious but the powers that be would never allow it so maybe Martin O'Malley is the best choice.

It's not really about his ego, so much as it's about the intoxicating allure of power. What it does to ordinary men is incredible enough. What it will do to men like Trump is impossible for them to resist. Exercising power is the most basic human instinct, beyond natural bodily functions. Everyone tries to wield whatever power they can every single day, if it means getting something they want. To suggest Trump wouldn't be seduced, if office was attainable, is comically naive.

hear ya and i would be surprised if he turns down the opportunity (or use the pretense of it till the last possible moment)....the allure of total power to someone like trump is like honey to a bee

however, I cant believe that he would risk the ingnominy of being flat out emabarrassed if he runs or god forbid....the total and abject disgrace if he managed to get himself elected

Sarah Palin mark 2

You're trying to apply logic to his thought processes. Logic won't enter into his decision making. The possibility of being the most powerful man on the planet, in spite of all its limitations, would utterly consume him, if it reared its head.

he doesnt have any policies...he doesnt have any backing in the wider community...he's a firework in the GOP and a bumper sticker in the far right

watch him fizzle out

my logic wont matter...staying power will and he doesnt have it

That doesn't really address the points I've advanced. He's not interested in the GOP, or his backing in the wider community. He's only interested in power, if and when it becomes attainable. You actually think he believes the things he says?

no...but he;s not stupid enough to not realise he needs the support

are you saying he would succeed as an independant?

tbf I think we agree...trump is a bigger idiot than he actually realises

I think America (in this ridiculous world of PC) would love a woman for Pres'. Hilary Clinton is not a good choice. Bernie Sanders talks a good talk, don't think he's presidential quality, every cracker jack on the right is a ......cracker jack......can't see a happy ending in any of the possible scenarios
