The longer nothing is done and the longer countries try to say it is not our problem the bigger it will become. Destabilising Turkey and having ISiS expand to the steps of Europe will not help anyone. This thread will easily reach 500+ pages, this is a huge huge crisis that many can not comprehend, whatever solution is implemented will take a long time and i just hope the attitude changes from some that worry about the burden on ''our resources'' to ''lets do all we can to help''.
** And whilst there's been some distasteful comments on here, check out the SkyNews ones under the article. f*cking disgusting.

Meanwhile you can do all you can do to help. No need to wait for the rest of us.
Simply send all of your disposable income to refugee charities and perhaps offer a room in you house to one.
Set us all an example.
I will be fair Chabal there has been more humanity in this thread especially at the start than is usual on bluemoon. As usual also you have made some great points - thanksReading BM does make me wonder how the UK got it's reputation for tolerance, generosity and compassion.
Anyway, why on earth did the UK allow those scrounging German Jews to settle in the 1930's?
Surely they should have stayed in Germany and fought the Nazis themselves. How dare they throw themselves upon our mercy.
Racism and xenophobia? You're seriously accusing me of that? Many people completely disagree with you thank fuck and look out for other human beings.youre the one doing the shit stirring
my argument is about finances and pressured resources........The refugees need help and I've agreed that.
Perhaps you can come up with some decent solutions to their sorry plight without resorting to veiled threats or false accusations of racism and xenophobia.
I have opinions and fears which many many people have and threatening people is silly and will not further your arguments to convince a lot of people that we should take thousands and thousands more refugees.
I've been warned not to argue but your personal comments make it extremely difficult
BBC trying to differentiate between economic migrants and those refugees fleeing for their lives. But those fleeing for their lives and already in somewhere like Hungary have already escaped persecution. The fact that they too want to get into Europe quite so much makes them economic migrants too. There is no choice here as we cannot afford to just let them all in willy nilly. That would be a massive mistake from a security perspective even if we could afford it. Aid yes of course. Assistance in their local areas yes of course. Camps to help and support all and to process those who have a valid claim to enter a specific EU nation yes of course. Unlimited, uncontrolled, unending waves of immigrants on top of the record levels we are already experiencing No Thanks.
I have just moved to the countryside and had a nasty fall out with some on here and indeed was banned for a month partly because of a thread whereby I said I had moved because my area had changed so much and become predominantly Asian and I wasn't enjoying living there as much so was labelled purely as a racist. I didn't make my point well at all and rightly came in for some stick.
I had time to think and I still feel I was within my rights to say I wanted to move and I also feel that too much immigration is impacting upon the economy of this country as well as its identity.
However seeing this tragic picture on the paper this morning shows how desperate people in other parts of the world must be. I was absolutely gutted seeing that image of the poor child and his parents must have been desperate. I have 3 kids and one lad as young as this poor boy and I cant even imagine what his Dad must be going through.
I also noticed in my seat at the Chelsea game - how many different nationalities were there and there were indeed 2 women in front of me in the full muslim head dresses - (if that is the right terminology) and my initial thought - was brilliant - how nice to see different cultures embracing City (can you have imagined that on the Kippax 30 years ago) and that we are not a racist club. I played football for 30 years at Platt Lane with guys like Gus Wilson and Ralph and the colour of there skin never entered my head - I just saw them as great lads and City fans.
I guess my point is that it is easy to label someone as right wing or racist. it is a bigger issue than that. I don't particularly want to become a minority in Manchester but then again I am so proud that my football club has been at the forefront of battling racism for so long and was delighted to see so many cultures at the game. I am trying to overcome my initial reactions of "don't let any more in" etc etc and see people as human beings irrespective of culture or colour.
We need to manage that with ensuring everyone black, white or whatever tries to integrate more in a society that works and everyone is given opportunity and plays a part.
I genuinely don't know the answer and don't think there is an easy one but just wanted to share the difficulties I as an individual have with immigration. In the short term I genuinely think we have to do more for these poor people.
Probably not popular but I am against migrants coming to this country freeloading and putting huge strain on our public services paid for by us the taxpayer.
Agree @worsleyweb that was a great post - fair play - from the heart!Great post mate fair play and it is a struggle to overcome almost tribal instincts when the media drum it into us every day.
That boy was safe in Turkey and ended up dead on the beach.
The only shocking thing about this case is that his mother chose to risk his life in an unseaworthy boat to try to get from a safe country to a safe, more affluent one.
I really can't handle this guy his views are nothing short of disgusting, I'm out.
I am truly amazed anyone on here pretends to know that boy was safe or pretends to know anything about him. It staggers me that for political points anyone would comment factually on things none of us can know about. That boy was safe in Turkey and ended up dead on the beach.

I read your post and hope I am wrong as servers you right for being greedy - that's what you get. A mentality towards a poor dead kid and parents who have lost a child I can't even comprehend
I am assuming this is designed just to provoke, or was typed out in mistake whilst you were speaking on BBC news?
